That's right - after much negativity regarding O'hanas, we almost went back to ESPN Zone on Thursday 9/20 for dinner. That was by far the BEST meal we had all week, all five of us agreed on! So my advice is see for yourself before deciding not to go, you may be surprised.

Im a little confused :confused3 did you go to ohana or espn zone???

If it was ohana i would be curious to hear more about it. I am going to make one of my adrs for ohana and hear mixed things about it.

We have eaten there many times. I enjoy the food. The only thing I did not care for this time was the steak. It was pretty tough..
We again got a seat by the window and had the most beautiful sunset.. It is a great location.:thumbsup2

The cheesy potatoes are wonderful and the turkey and pork were very tender. DD just loves the peel and eat shrimp. Dessert with the carmel sauce is also very good. You will not leave hungry!!:goodvibes

Now the singing Hawaiian lady can get annoying, but my DD just loves her and follows her all around the restaurant. She ended up putting like 20 Lei's around her neck.

I think everyone should give it a try atleast once. We did not feel rushed either. It was a good time and a nice break from MK...Then we grabbed the monorail back for Wishes at MK.

So go and have fun!

Michelle

Ohana is a must for us every trip, glad you enjoyed it!

'Ohana is our favorite restaurant too!!! It's not a trip to Disney if we can't eat there! I agree with an earlier poster on the steak - it's too chewy. But I LOVE the pork and turkey. I swear I could eat the bowl of potatoes by myself!! I love the chicken wings too. Gotta admit I miss the pineapple desert, as none of us really care much for the bread pudding - but heck, by then, we're so full, it's not a big deal skipping the desert.

Sometimes my kids participate in the games but not always. The Hawaiian lady is annoying, but I'm too busy enjoying the food to worry about her!

Very good advice! Always find out for yourself, because everyone's different. Besides, any restaurant can serve one bad meal . . .

I was also confused when I first read this, but I assume that the "best meal" was at Ohana. I simply cannot conceive that anyone could have their best meal of a week at WDW at ESPN Zone.

In the two weeks before my trip I started second guessing all my choices, based on mixed reviews. No need for this. We did not have a bad meal. We had better meals, but nothing bad.

We were at Ohana the same night as you. The food was delicious. We all agreed we liked the starters best. The wings, shrimp, chips, and potatoes were delicious. Unfortunately, our waitress was "double sat". At the same time they seated our table of 4 a table of 11 was seated right next to ours. Our poor waitress had to do double duty on everything. Table seatings should be staggered. This resulted in us receiving food before our drinks and then having a 15 min wait after we received our sides before we got our skewers. My husband who has worked in the restaurant business says this is the hostesses fault. It was a shame. While the food was delicious, it was a pain having to wait so long for the main entree. My children were very squirmy at this point and I only ate the steak. We were about to skip dessert when the coconut races gave us a little more dining time.

I could - which is why depending on reviews of restaurants and basing your decisions on what other people think isn't always a great idea. As proven by the OP.

To me, there's nothing better than going to the ESPN club during a sporting event and watching it on the big screen. ESPN is a sports club, plain and simple. And sometimes that's what people want.

YES - I needed to clarify that - sorry! We ate at ESPN on Tuesday and my husband and son liked it so much from years before as well, that they wanted to cancel O'Hanas and go back to ESPN. We were all so glad we kept the reservation, the steak was a little on the "chewy" side, but the rest of the food was excellent - especially the pork. When the bowl of cheesy potatoes came out, we wondered how in the world it would feed six people, but we were so stuffed from everything else, we barely finished them!

I almost canceled my first trip to O'Hana too b/c of negative reviews. DH and I loved it so much we're doing it again on our trip in Dec. I thought about canceling WCC but decided to just go with it and try it for ourselves. Who knows what a person actually thinks till they try it.

Glad to hear some good reviews of Ohana! We're trying it for the first time on 11/25 and I was getting a bit worried with all the negative comments lately.
SnowWtch - We loved WCC last Dec when we went for lunch. The food was really good and the server had fun with us and the other diners but was pitched at just the right level - not too noisy, just a few jokes. Hope you like it.

Ok here's my 2 cents. We would have loved it if the food wasn't cold and the serve was slow. We had two servers and still the delays were unbelievable. DH asked for two waters and do you know when they came? with our bill. Unbelievable. They were so crowded. I was traveling with two small kids and they were served LAST!!! My DS who is 2.5 years old fell asleep waiting for his food. The waitress was kind enough to give him fresh food to go home with. She knew the serve was terrible and we did not complain not even once. We were trying to make the best of it. My DD enjoyed the coconut race and the limbo dance. The hawaiian lady singing was annoying at time but again we just laughed it off. So next time I will try Kona.

Okay, I understand that your experience at O'Hana was clearly disappointing and why you won't be back. But realize that many people, myself included have had the exact opposite experience. I have eaten there about three or four times over the last four years with great food and service each time. Which means nothing except that it can and does happen. But I am bummed for you that your night was so bad.

In the end I think reviews can be helpful and they are fun to read. But I can never recommend basing any decision to go or not go based on reviews. We all have individual tastes, experiences vary and in the end you might either not book or go with way too high expectations. Or you might do wht the OP did, go and have a great meal. Give anything a try at WDW, you won't know until you do.

I couldn't agree more with this! :)
