ok so i have decided to go and i have picked my dates, i wanna stay in the sequoia lodge and i have even used reverse psychology on my mom and now she wants to come too :cool1:

so what is holding me back you ask?? well the only airline that i can use is now threatening strike action coming up to christmas :headache:

so i am gonna hold out till i know more there is no point wasting my money *** if my flight is cancelled i have no other way of getting there

Ohno! Could you phone the airline (is it Aer Lingus?) and ask them what provisions would be in place if there was a strike?

When virgin had oen earlier in the year services were pretty much unaffected, and I think if there is plenty of notice the airline should be able to get agency staff etc to cover?

yeah thanks i didnt think of that. i think the news is just trying to scare everyone. it said that if there was a strike then services would be hugely affected :scared1: .

im taking it that i am going just hoping to hear in the next few days that the aer lingus wont strike

Are they striking the days you want to book for?

they havent released any details yet. so far they are just threatening to strike coming up to christmas as aer lingus are cutting jobs which they say they have to do. i just know with my luck they would decide to strike either the day im going or coming back

i really hope it sorts itself out *** i told ash she can have a birthday party with buzz and woody and she is telling her dvd she is two all day :rotfl2:

i showed her your pics and she said wow every time she saw the castle. im such a sucker thats what made the decision for me :rotfl:

Aer Lingus are rumored to strike 2 weeks from today which is the 24th... the day we go to DLRP :scared1: Fingers crossed it doesnt start till after our 7am flight, but i doubt they will let it go to a strike. Hopefully they will have talks before it comes to this...

oh no thats awful!!! im hoping they dont strike too. just not letting it to chance though :rotfl2:

i'm just sick at this - we are going on the 29th and a friend (who works for aer lingus) has said the strikes will definately happen - aer lingus are not backing down and neither are the staff

i've just booked flights from shannon to beauvais instead and we will go with ryanair - just praying nothing happens to THOSE flights as i know beuavais tends to get foggy

determined to get to dlrp - might just swim there :dance3:

Strikes can be called off at the very last minute though.

I work for the government & should have been on strike today, but it got called off at around 1.30pm on Friday!!!

Great news that you going back - hopefully & even better that you will have some help with you too. I know that travelling with a toddler is hard, but maybe you could look at Ryanair & options of getting there from Beauvais, although personally I think it would be too much travelling for my little one & for my sanity!

yeah i know me too i just want to get there as fast as i can. ash is way too active to be hanging around too long. and cork to shannon on the way there and on the return would be too much for me grrr. if it doesnt work out at christmas then it is definate that we are going in may. but it just looks so pretty :rotfl:

Beauvais to DLRP is not that bad a journey, especially if you hire a car (which works out much cheaper than the shuttle bus). We do this route every time - it's fast (5 hours each way from Scotland, door to door), relatively cheap and stress-free.

wow, way to go ... can't believe you're nearly booked up again !

fingers crossed you get to go at xmas time, the photos on here look so magical :)

Aer lingus are invited to enter talks tomorrow to try and solve this strike... *fingers & toes crossed* :rotfl:
