Getting ready to go on our first trip and ADR time is looming. I want to go to Rose and Crown for dinner one night so any suggestions on what time to book in order to see Illuminations? 7 or 8:00? any tricks to be sure to be able to watch illuminations while here?

Second question, does San Angel Inn offer any "normal food" for lunch:lmao:
I looked at their menu and it's a little "exotic" for us rednecks. Do they bring out chips and salsa, as in the usual mexican style chips? any chance to get regular ol'cheese enchiladas for my kids?

thanks a bunch!

We also like Mex food but not so exotic. My kids love cheese quesadillas and chicken quesadillas. I mean the like them plain. Just cheese in a flour tortilla, no beans, no guacomole, maybe some salsa to dip them in. Same with the chicken, just chicken and cheese. So does San Angel serve like this? or where can I get plain mex like that in the world? I think on a couple of kids menues I have seen quesadillas but not sure what comes on them.

Rose & Crown ADRs stop early so just get latest time.

San Angel food is more like food in Mexico, not American version. If menu doesn't appeal, I suggest booking elsewhere. Cheese enchiladas are not a true Mexican dish.

Any reservations from 7pm on can hang around to see Illuminations. Just let your waitress/waiter know you want to still be there when they start. Our waitress told us they will just hang on to your order a little before putting it in. We had 7 pm ressies sat outside, and was able to just relax and talk to our kids, draw pictures and eat appetizers. By 8pm we had our dinner and by 9 we eating our dessert while watching the fireworks.

And try to work on getting your Rose & Crown ressie first. I tried for my upcoming trip and all times around Illuminations were booked. They go really fast.

OP here:wave2:
Thanks for the advice guys. Also...thanks for showing that kids menu link. I looked on the WDW official site and saw the menu for the restaurant but it did not have the kids menu there so I got a little worried, of course I forgot all about Allears. Thanks! It's not a cheese enchilada on the kids menu but rather a quesadilla though, either way it will do!:goodvibes

I also know that I shouldn't expect taco bell:lmao:and San Angel Inn is trying to be authentic of course but my 10-year old has "issues" with food so I was hoping they'd maybe have a little section on the bottom of the menu w/ simple Mexican food (soft taco, plain cheese enchilada, etc). No worries, he can order from kid's menu. My husband and I and older child are fine w/ the more "authentic" items on the menu. But...I still need some chips and salsa! still not sure if they bring those out??

Oh...and as far as booking Rose Crown as soon as I can, I'll be sure to do that. I've got 7 ADRs to book on May 19th and I'm not sure which one is the most important to type in first! yikes
