I skimmed back through previous threads, but am not entirely sure I got the answer I was looking for.

We are travelling to Disney the first week of March 2013 using the Stay, Play and Dine option, staying at POR. It will be me, DH and our 3 kids (11, 9 and 7). Our 9 year old turns 10 a week after we return and honestly of the 3 kids, he is the biggest eater.

It sounds from other threads like I can upgrade him to the adult meal plan, but I was wonder if that is true. If so, does anyone know what the cost difference would be? We are going to be doing a couple of buffets, so for those meals, it wouldn't matter which plan he was under. But, I'm guessing that the difference in cost isn't too bad and may well be worth it. I swear that kid has a hollow leg. :)

Just put his age as 10 on your reservation but you'll have to pay the park ticket prices for a 10 year old as well. Or put him as 9 and eat at a lot of buffets so he can get as much as he wants for the kid price.

I already made my reservation. I feel weird calling and giving his age as 10, even though he will be only a week after we return. Are they going to care if I up his age a week early given that he will cost a bit more?

How will they know when he's turning 10? WDW doesn't ID kids (because kids don't have IDs).

They could care less of you upgrade him. It will be about $25.00 difference because they will upgrade him for tickets also.

Normally this would be true, however, with the s/p/d deal, adults are paying kid's prices for tickets and dining, so it should not cost anything. :goodvibes

Hi, just to let you know, we upgraded our DD's (7 & 8) to the adult DDP nearly 9 months after booking! The CM said lots of people did it so it was no problem at all :goodvibes

I called and changed DD's age on a trip a couple of years ago. I was concerned more about variety than volume, but it worked out really well. I was upfront when I called - I just told them I wanted to changed her age to 10 so that she wouldn't be limited to kid's meals.

We had the same thing with my 9 year old nephew. I called and asked if I could pay to make him an adult on the DDP. They did it with no questions asked.

Thank you all for the help. Called Disney today and changed his plan to adult. The CSR was very helpful. To top it off, a previous poster was correct - because of the current deal, our cost did not change at all. Almost tempted me to change my 7 year old as well, but I think she'll be happier with the child menu and she definitely doesn't need additional food.

That's great! Glad it all worked out for you. We have a free dining stay coming up (next Friday!:goodvibes), and for our 9 night stay it only cost me $19.17 (difference in ticket price) to switch DD to an adult. She eats more than I do most of the time, so it will be nice not to hear her always asking, "Are you gonna finish that?". Well... she'll probably still ask, but hopefully not as often. :rotfl:

Have a magical trip! pixiedust:

If your 11 year old doesn't eat much, just have them order from the kids menu and the 9 year old can order from the adult menu. As long you use 3 adult meals and 2 kids meals at each meal, it's fine.

Thanks for the thought. We actually didn't want to do this because our 11 year old prefers to eat off of the adult menu.

You may not have seen my update -- I was able to call and upgrade my 9 year old to the adult plan and because of the current stay/play/dine deal, it didn't cost us any more to upgrade him.

This is so good to know! I was just reviewing menus with my children (one of whom is 9 (will be 10 a few weeks after we return from WDW)) - and, she seemed more interested in the adult menu. I will be calling and making the change too!

Interestingly, I was just 'mocking' up this change online - to see if it did, in fact, show no change in price - however, for what I saw online at least - it shows that if I had originally booked by p/s/d package this way, it would have been $109 more ... interesting... Guess I will see what they have to say when I call in the AM.

I called today and I was told that it would cost an additional $100 to upgrade my daughter (not sure why it is a change in price for us - where it wasn't for others - unless - we're actually paying the difference from QSDP to DDP for child to adult conversion - since we're staying at a value resort??)... I have to decide today, since all changes have to be booked by 12/31... Oh, decisions.......

Keep in mind this will increase your tip prices as well.

Yes, I did take that into consideration - and I've already upp'd my budget for tips - a small price to pay to keep my (nearly) 10 year old happy - would be really hard for her to see her 12 year old sister ordering off the 'big girl' menu, while she had ridiculously fewer options... lol. I figure this way, I'll enjoy my meal more too.... :thumbsup2

Hi, just so I'm clear on this, when we booked our Disney trip my DD was 9 but we have had to put the date back a week and she will be 10 now when we go but Disney have not changed the age or ticket even though I did say at the time.
She is a fussy eater but gets fed up of the same kids choices so she would have the odd steak/pork/adult burger.
We are on DDP and it is only £20 to upgrade her ticket to an adult, my question is, can she still order off the kids menu and use her 'adult' credit? I know a kids credit cannot be used for an adult meal but surely an adult credit for a kids meal is money In disney's pocket!!
Thanks

I am not sure about this...but I am guessing you are from overseas...I think there are problems with changing the child's age in this case b/c you have to match passports. Although it sounds like your child will be 10 when you check in so you SHOULD have adult ticket and dining
