I read quickly the reports about the new Beachclub Villa's. I just got back today. We had booked for 5 nights but we just couldn't leave so we added another night paying for it because I had no more points left for this year.
We stayed in a two bedroom with pool view on the 4th floor. The last room down the hall way far from the lobby but great for the private pool. It was not fun walking through the lobby in my suit to use Stormalong Bay. They really need to do something about that, people are checking in and we are parading in front of them in suits. Not a pretty sight.
Well Ally the gator made "her" appearance on the 2nd. They think she has been hanging around because the construction workeers fed her. They tried to catch her with marshmellows but visitors were throwing her food so she was not interested. They were told not to, but no one listened. I didn't feed her, I wanted her out. Don't know if she was male or female, but we named her Ally.
She looked to be about 7 feet long, don't know much about alligators and didn't want to get too personal with her. I gave her space and she left me alone too.
We loved the rooms, but not the walk to them at night. Next time I will ask for a better room, 478 is way too far... Peggie

Thanks for the info about Ms Ally.

FWIW, you do not have to go through the lobby to get to either Luna Park (feature pool) or the BWV quiet pool. You can take one of the stairways or take the elevator to the first/ground floor. (The lobby is on the second floor). When you get off the elevator, go to the left and there is a door that opens right next to Luna Park. Sorry you didn't know about that when you were there.

I think Peggie meant the BCV, at least that's how the description sounds.

If members are feeding a 7 foot long gator, we'll be missing a few members shortly. :earseek: :earseek:

I love your name for her. We don't see many gators here in CT, do we? I'd like to have seen her but I also would like to see them take her away.

Now that I re-read her post, I agree with you. She was talking about the BCV, not the BWV.

I also think Mickey578 was referencing the BCV's... Thanks for the info about Ally, love her name... We had a picture of her floating around a couple of months ago... She looked little in the picture, but apparently she's gotten bigger ROFL.... Hope they catch her soon...

Peggie, on the Collector's board you said you stayed at the Beach Club. Maybe you need another vacation :) - we'll all authorize it for you :).

Where exactly was "Ally"? Please tell me there's no possible way for her to get into any of the pools!!!

Actually she could get just about any where she wants to. When we were at the BC in April she was in the canel that goes underneath the bridge that is in front of the BC, it is just a short walk up the hill and there is nothing but fear of people to stop her from coming up the hill.

I've been living way down here in South Florida for almost five years. I went the first four without seeing one alligator.

Sometime in January this year I was driving towards lake Okeechobee, on the side of the road in a real vacant area there was a 10'+ alligator that caused a car to flip over, everyone was all right...except for the gator.

In March, way down south past Kendell is a remote area I saw some game warden looking guys with a six or seven foot gator restrained in ropes.

Two weeks ago, a mile from my house, near a waterway, I saw a five foot road kill gator, that was wild, a mile away!!!!!

You all know what a sail-gator is???

After a three or four foot gator gets hit on the road and then run over several hundred more times in the hot sun, you wait a week, peel it off the road and throw it like a frisbee..... I am just reporting on Southern Florida youth activities.

Yes, Sorry for the confusion, I did mean Beach Club Villas. I drove home non stop, 20 hours on the road. And then directly onto the boards. I was a little tired.
Just spent 2 hours cleaning out my pool that my son neglected while I was gone so I can rest now and leisurly fix all my mistakes.
I have some pictures of Ally and will post them as soon as I can download them off the camera. Peggie

After reading Rich's description of road kill gators in Florida, I have a new appreciation for all of our grey squirrel road kill in New York.;)

And I can't believe people are actually feeding it? Its like people who feed the bears in national parks in front of signs that say not to feed them.

LOL, this is so true. We have stayed at the YC the last two years, and here is this beautiful, classy lobby - and here we are decked out in bathing suits trouncing on through! We got used to it after a while.
