All of the All star Values are suddenly showing no availability over labor day weekend. What seems odd is that just last week there were rooms in all categories at all of the resorts. I called to see if by change there was a large tour group coming in, but the CM's were of no help. Is is possible that WDW closes down a couple of the buildings to push guest to the other resorts?

I was actually wondering about this too, but for marathon weekend in January. The little mermaid rooms at AOA are all booked up for Saturday. I feel like it is too far in advance for everyone to have booked this up. I called to see if it was available on the CM computers and even he was surprised it wasn't available. Does anyone know if it is better to call or if checking online is just as effective?

I know that I am personally booked in a AOA LM room for 1/18-1/27. I booked about 2 months ago so I know they had availability.

The marathon weekend is crazy and AOA is the resort, but because it so far out I would keep checking online to see if something pops up - there is still plenty of time for cancellations.:)

Yes, but the free dinning offer for Labor day expired weeks ago. The free dinning offer available now is for late Sept. and beyond. I think something is up. That is why I am wondering if they close buildings - which I think is something WDW has done in the past when bookings are slow.

Wow - why would they do that? Where would those people go? Why wouldn't Disney WANT to fill up All Stars since Arts of Animation and Pop Century would likely get the crowds? There is a reason All Stars are the cheapest of the values.

Buildings can be closed down for refurbishing but I would be surprised if more than one building in one value resort or two across all 5 value resorts would be closed at the same time.

before they close POR - and they told their guests before hand. so don't think what your are suggesting is how Disney would do it.

they do sell out the values first - sometimes a few of the deluxes as well.

now what they won't do anymore is tell you is when they close the pools - they use to and had a bunch of people either changing resorts or not even coming. so now they don't tell you about the pools.

kept in mind Disney has already say the parks and resorts at WDW are doing well. Now Orlando is still having difficults but it seems like WDW is over most of the problems.

I played around with some dates on Disney's AP site and there indeed were no All Star Values available (Pop was) if I included Sunday (Sept 2nd) in the mix but as soon as I did a Monday or later search then All Star Movies became available. Perhaps they are doing, as has been suggested, some refurb work on the others.

I went on the sports event site and it looks like there are two big sporting events; a youth baseball tournament and also a youth soccer tournament both on Aug. 29-Sept 2. The Baseball tournament will be hosted at Allstar sports and CBR. The soccer tournament hotel wasn't listed, but my guess is Allstars Music. :headache:

disney generally blocks these rooms way in advance.

so they would not have showing last week or when the OP looked before.

always add All stars Sports - for anything with Sports.

if more people signed up for these events then disney put asside rooms for then they would go first to the others All stars resorts. for the moderate think it is POR.

believe me understand where you are coming from - labor day is almost off season at Disney. but it may be this time because it is the first Monday and Sept starts on Sat - it works better for more people who generally would not come that week - are coming.

Really? Because I was just looking at the WDW resort "book a hotel" page and checking out prices. When I looked at the GF it listed one of the pools being closed. This was for Sept or Oct.

Here is the quote from the WDW website:

"Offering the ultimate in luxury, elegance and sophistication, this Victorian-inspired Disney Resort hotel pays homage to the golden era of the "Sunshine State."

Please note, the following amenities at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will be closed for refurbishments:

*******• Beach Pool Bar: April 2 to September 4, 2012
*******• Sandy Cove Merchandise: August 21 to November 18, 2012
*******• Courtyard Pool: August 28 to November 30, 2012
*******• Gasparilla Grill & Games: September 4 to December 17, 2012
*******• Ivy Trellis Salon: October 20 to December 3, 2012
*******• The Spa: April 19, 2011 to December 5, 2012

These locations are being refreshed for your future enjoyment. In the meantime, you will have access to alternate options during your stay, so you can anticipate a truly grand vacation experience. Refurbishment dates are subject to change."

I found the website for Anthonytravel which books the rooms for the Disney youth soccer groups. It looks like the WDW hotel is the Allstars Sports. But since the Baseball group will also be there, now wondering if the "overage" has moved over to Movies and Music. That would be logical and explain why theses resorts which had available rooms 2 weeks ago, are suddenly sold out.

My question is this ... should I move to POP. I prefer Music over Pop since it's smaller, but am worried about groups of kids taking over the resort. WWYD???

how much time do you spend at your resort? if a good amount then change it -- if only to sleep - don't really think you would be better off.

especially since you prefer Music.

hey that is wonderfully - disney use to not tell - and know that got them alot of complaints.

it really helps when Disney says something is wrong - so guests can plan. Otherwise you hear here or other websites - and don't know who to believe.

that is really great news!!!
