Anyone know approx how many seats are not allocated on Virgin flights? Ok I know this will depend on a few things but any idea anyone? is there somewhere you can look to see how many tickets have been sold?

Reason I ask is we fly out friday and the back half of the plane is showing empty so I am debating wheather to change our seats from the pair at the back to another row and hope to have a free seat.

The bulk head seats are kept back for special needs and familes with young children, also the first row in econony is resereved. I have flown with the plane half empty and once we had taken off we where told that we could sit where we liked (within our class), but we had to return to are allocated seats for landing or an emergency.

Dont forget also, that many people who booked through agents dont have access to the online seating allocator (I couldnt access mine last year - though it wasnt an issue because I wanted a sky cot that was only available at check in anyway). Around 60% of seats are available for pre selection.

Having said all that, the middle weeks of january are probably THE quietest time to go, so its very likely that your plane will be virtually empty. Sometimes, if it is THAT quiet they will cancel one of the flights and bump everyone onto one. If I were you, I would call Virgin 24 hours in advance to check your flight time.

I think they might put the later flight onto ours, I had a look and there is only 28 seats allocated on that flight as of now.

If you book with them directly you can choose your seats online which can be tricky you may need advice on the better seats to have for your family;) I think you need to put in your reservation code from Virgin Atlantic which you will be sent from Virgin Holidays.Don't know if you'll get the seats you want though as they do not guarantee them, even if you do pick them online, it is a request after all.:grouphug:
