I am traveling solo to WSW this April. On previous solo trips I have stayed at Coronado Springs which I loved. This year I would like to try something a little different. Alligator Bayou - At Port Orleans Riverside - sound appealing. I understand, though, that these rooms are tough to get for a solo. They often put solos in the mansions sections which doesn't interest me as much. I would appreciate hearing from you if you have landed an Alligator Bayou room as a solo. thanks Gail

no - but then I didn't want to say in the AB section. I always ask for the mB section....

I think on our last trip I had a choice....

so there is always hope!!! :teeth:

I don't know if they have preferences of who they put where, but I only make requests if I'm willing to accept the alternative if I dont' get it. As with all requests at Disney, they are just requests. If you request it, you might get it. If not, will it be a big disappointment and ruin the trip or will you be able to deal with it. Good Luck!

Cheers!

Hi!

Definitely ask! I did a solo trip to Riverside in 2001 and they put me up in one of the closest room to the Main building in the AB section. I really appreciated it at the time since it was my 1st solo trip and hey being a gal I was worried so I was over the moon when they offered it up (course I had this look of lost panic in my eyes ;) LOL ).

You might have to wait for a room but for me it would be worth it. I loved it, have stayed there quite a few times before that and felt very comfortable. Sadly I haven't had a chance to return since 2002 to that resort since we've been trying out others, life is rought and I must give my all to the other resorts ;)

Enjoy and definitely ask and also see if they can make a note in the reservation. Never hurts to ask. Worst thing they can say is no or you have to wait until the room is ready. Good luck and have the best time!!!!

Disney is the best place to enjoy a solo trip, in my case I was there for a convention nearby and would only stay at Disney, my home away from home

I have been to POR many times, and four of them were solo. I usually requested the Alligator Bayou rooms, and got it. The last time I requested The Mansion side, just for a change, but still got the A/B side.

This last vacation, I tried Coronado Springs, just for a change. It was nice,
but I still think I prefer the A/B side at POR. I got building 14, one year, and building 15 two other years. ( All early December )

You just cannot go wrong with POR. It's all a warm, wonderful, cozy feeling.

I think I may have posted on one of the OP's other posts on this subject, so sorry if this sounds familiar!

I tried twice to get AB as a solo, both times completely refused. Couldn't even politely bargin with them. A flat NO. And both times I was placed in the way back of the farthest corner of mansion Parterre Place. Only nice thing about it was that my car was 10 feet from my door, which was convient since I was nowhere near the bus stop, food court, or pool (does POR have pools? I never saw any!). Each time, I wanted AB since I wanted to try a new "area" and instead got the same far corner of Parterre Place, again. Very disappointing. I won't stay at POR again because of it. I learned my lesson!

Of couse, I never get my room requests anyway. :(

I've been to Riverside once solo and requested AB and got it :thumbsup2
I asked for something close to the main bus stop and was really pleased with my location.

AB was my first resort as a solo. I loved it.

Sounds like they reserve that room in Parterre Place for solos-I got it once too! But I didn't have a car, so I went back to the front desk and begged to be moved. They offered me a HA room on the second floor, which had a nice view, and as long as I knew, I didn't mind that it was HA. But I, too, have requested AP twice and not gotten it.

I've also stayed solo in Parterre Place, which I loved the location. Would like to try AB some time.

boy I am glad I never got that room.....

there are 7 pools at POR how do you miss them all....

now I have gotten Magnolia Terrace a bunch of times...only once didn't get it...

I have never wanted to try AB - and I haven't....

Ok, I exaggerated a touch when I said I never saw a pool :teeth: - I did go swimming one day, and I remember I really had to wander around and try to find Old Man Island. It was nowhere nears my room. I also tried to find a quiet pool, and it was hard to tell where it was from the main sidewalk - there were hedges all around and I couldn't actually see any pool unless I walked off the main sidewalk and look around. It was very true that I never saw a pool unless I walked way out of my way - it was not on my way to the food court.

Sigh. I have no desire to stay at POR again. Same old thing each time - can't get a different room no matter how I beg! :(

Went to POR last year solo. Requested AB when I checked. Was in Bldg 15. Close to the bus stop and not a bad walk to the main building. First trip solo. Could not have been better.
