Just for the latest:

2:30 PM EST - The News is reporting that no explosives have been found so far but Alligator Alley is still closed for a 20 mile stretch. The three men are medical students from Ross University on their way to a medical convention of sorts, which has all checked out to be true.

But ... Who in their right mind would joke about 9-11?????? And then make comments as to what will happen on 9-13? Also, the fools drove through the toll booth, which gave police reason to stop them.

It's hard to know what goes on in the minds of people. But if they are terrorists and nothing is found, it might even look like they wanted to get caught to be decoy of the real thing.

If they're not terrorists, what were they thinking? And why would they make these comments? Amazing?

What do you think?

Aloha,
Lorraine

Hi Lorraine - what's the full story? If it isn't too upsetting, what did these people say?

I've just been reading this story on our BBC Teletext news pages. They say an 80 mile stretch of Alligator Alley has now been closed - where exactly is this??

Like you both say, what on earth is in the minds of these people, but then in yesterday's Mail (newspaper), they had a "for" and "against" letter following on from a guy being stopped at an airport for making a 'joke' about carrying a gun in his luggage. The "for" letter actually said they thought the people checking the guy in at the airport had no sense of humour and were jobsworths

Boggles the brain . . . .

Annie, Alligator Alley crosses from near Naples on the Gulf Coast to the Fort Lauderdale area on the Gold coast - I kept a wary eye out for alligators all the way and didn't see one. ( The sides of the road have high mesh fence mostly anyway!)

It seems I need to catch up on the news today - I haven't got the full story on this yet.

EDIT: I've just read Dave's earlier post about this. I'm rather baffled by the whole thing - I'll watch the news tonight.
