Sat June 21st. Baby has a bad night. I rented a travel crib from the villa management company, and DS doesnt like it one bit (even though it is identical to my travel crib at home). He wakes 3-4 times and I am like a zombie in the morning! We have to get an early start as it is the day of Cinderellas Royal Table breakfast. Amazingly we are all loaded into the car by 7.30am. Weather Channel reports it will be dull, overcast and rainy all day, so I pack ponchos not suncream and hats (bad move).

As we drive into the Magic Kingdom car park, I am stunned to find out we are on the FRONT ROW of the car park.....this has NEVER happened before! DD, however is totally gutted that she doesnt get to ride on the trolley bus and is only distracted by an impending ride on the monorail! Unfortunately, front of the monorail is taken, so we ride normally. MK is still one hour from opening but the TTC is pretty crowded. We get through security...they miss the cooler and bag under the stroller...and make ourselves known to the man with the clipboard. He finds my name and we are let in. I love this part, just a shame its such a dull morning today. Looking on the bright side though, it wasnt raining and DD went running up Main Street to catch her first glimpse of The Castle! Even in the gloom it doesnt disappoint and brings huge smiles to all our faces. We have our photo taken as a family and look out for Mickey and Minnie who, last year were waiting right at the end of Main St. Sadly, maybe due to the weather, they didnt appear this time. We soak up a bit of the atmosphere......there is NOTHING like a nearly empty Magic Kingdom to send tingles of excitement through me.

Its getting close to our PS time, so we make our way to the podium. We are shown into the lobby area which is quite busy. There is no Fairy Godmother yet, so a lot of the children are getting photos sitting in her chair. Last year, DD had a "thing" about the Fairy Godmother, where she was scared to pieces of her. I was hoping this year, she would have her photo done with her. It wasnt to be, and as soon as the sweet old dear appeared, DD hid behind mum and refused to budge. I dont know why she does this! Anyway, undeterred, I scoop up DS and line up to get at least ONE of the kids in a photo with F.G!! I wasnt sure how he was going to react as this would be his first "character".....I neednt have worried. DS LOVES Fairy Godmother and gazes lovingly into her eyes without even dribbling on her shiny cloak. She too is smitten, and actually asks to hold him. I hand him over and she spends ages playing with him. DS is lapping this up and doesnt want to leave her! Mum persuades DD to give F.G a small wave from the safety of her seat, and in return she writes a nice little message in her autograph book.

We have quite a wait before ANY royal families are called and its well past nine when we are told to make our way upstairs. We have a window seat this time which is nice, and we can look out on the carousel and monitor the crowds....which dont seem too bad yet! Also, the sun has begun to shine and its looking HOT out there! Our server brings over juice and milk for DD. Needless to say, none of us opt for the "healthy" option and we all go for the full works. As we settle into the breakfast we all notice one glaring omission....no Princesses....anywhere! DD doesnt seem bothered and wants to know if Captain Hook is coming instead. DH notices what might be Mary Poppins emerging from a distant door, but none of the main ones are about yet. At least this gives us a chance to eat some food without interruptions, but after 20 mins and still no maidens, I am getting concerned!! Finally, like buses, all the Princesses appear at once....Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Belle and Mary Poppins. There are a lot of happy little girls and relieved parents now! DS has started to become grumpy, having played "throw the french toast as far as possible" for 15 mins, he is now bored. Enter Cinderella to sort him out (I breathe in relief that she doesnt slide unmajestically on the remnants of his scattered toast). Cinders enthralls DS even more than Fairy Godmother had....she recriprocates and plants a huge kiss on his forehead leaving a lipstick imprint (think Snow White & Dopey!). DS makes a grab for Cinders bosom and she retreats hastily to sign DDs autograph book. I notice DH sending approving glances to his son.

We have a backlog of Princesses lining up at our table now. DS isnt quite so keen on Belle & Snow White, but approves heartily of Sleeping Beauty (obviously prefers blondes). DD doesnt seem as enchanted as last year and keeps asking where the Wicked Queen is, and whether she eats breakfast as well. I cant believe she has grown out of the Princesses already...at 3. I was hoping for a few more years at least!! We finish with Mary Poppins who is quite jolly. We all enjoyed the breakfast here, especially the cheesey hash browns and "normal" sausages! We do feel a little rushed and the Princesses didnt spend QUITE as long with DD as last time, so that knocked the score down to 8/10 compared to last years 9/10.

Continued below...!

Well, the weather channel have got it wrong and the sun is hot and it is now a lovely day. The crowds have not arrived and I take DD on Dumbo (5 min wait). We see Peter Pan is also a walk on, so we head there next. The line is a little deceptive and we do wait 10 mins in the end. Everyone enjoys this, especially DD who has recently decided Peter Pan is the best film ever. The next ride is the dreaded Its a Small World....DS simply loves this tune, and will only eat his dinner with this being sung, so we cant wait to see his reaction to the ride. Typically, he falls asleep on DHs shoulder as we walk onto the boat. Even the lilting tones of 1000 tiny dolls cannot awake him from his slumber. DD sings along heartily and I fear this will not be the last visit to the land of the dolls.

We ask DD if she want to ride Snow White.....She does. Its a walk on and she enjoys this immensely. Time for a go on the carousel and I spot the horse with the golden ribbon (supposedly Cinderellas) but we cant get to it in time. DD settles for an enourmous steed that I have trouble hoisting her on. That done, she decides she wants to meet Ariel in her grotto. Sign says 25 min wait, so DH takes mum and DS (still asleep in stroller) to the little seating area next to the grotto. We grab some drinks and then I take DD to Ariel. As its our turn, DD decided she DOESNT want to meet Ariel after all and throws a tantrum. Fortunately, Ariel is mermaid well versed in troublesome toddlers and coaxes DD over for her photo.

The park is now getting busy as 11am approaches. We head into Tomorrowland and grab some Fast passes for Buzz. We park mum and DS in Cosmic Rays and then the heavens open....we sit out the rain and then head off to do Buzz. This is my fave ride at MK and although I never win, I do have fun trying. DH gets another ridiculously high score and I sulk. Collect mum and wander over to Adventureland. Wait for Aladdin is only 10 mins, so on we go.....its still raining but not too heavily. We head to Splash Mountain for fast passes, those collected we wander past Big Thunder Mountain. I happen to notice the guy with the kid height measuring thingy and usher DD to be checked......she is TOO SMALL for this and Splash. Oh no, these are the two rides she most wanted to do.....I break it to her gently and she takes it well, though I fear it will cost me at the next store. DH and I decide not to ride Splash with our FPs as it would feel wrong when DD couldnt ride also. I give the FPs to a grateful parent with a sulking teenager, who brightens at the freebie FPs. We head back slowly through Frontierland and there is some excitement as a CM is on gator duty in the lake! A small gator has made his way up the embankment and is posing a "threat" to passing tourists. A rather nervous looking CM is having to follow him with one of those noose thingys.

We head back to Main Street and grab some hot dogs at Caseys corner..Dh notices for some reason the drinks are cheaper here than anywhere else in the park. Mum stakes out a good spot on Main St for the parade. I buy a balloon for the kids and find a Peter Pan figure set in the store which I get for DD. The 3pm parade starts at 3.15pm. MAJOR disappointment here as the parade is missing some of our favourite floats...Beauty and the Beast being the biggest omission for us. The parade is not nearly as long as last year and we feel short changed.....DD is sorely miffed.."where is the REST, mummy"......and I had to agree. It did turn out that we were unlucky that day and DID see the other floats later in the holiday.

DS needed some munchies so I decided to check out one of the baby centers. I can only say good things about these places and anyone travelling with nappy age kids needs to visit them! They have EVERY facility including baby essentials like food, formula, napppies and wipes. Spare clothing was available as were food / bottle warming and high chairs for feeding. There was a big changing area and toilets for parents and older siblings. There were also ice cold water dispensers which were a god send! I buy a jar of something which sounds yummy and settle DS in a high chair. I groan in shame as the lovely pastel walls are rapidly being turned orange as DS flicks the spoonfulls of food everywhich way. Meanwhile DD is "experimenting" with the water dispenser and floods the floor. DH is SUPPOSED to be supervising her...Time to depart and pray that our faces are not pinned up as banned entrants to any Baby Center on Disney property.

We head back up Main St collecting photos on the way including DDs photo with Ariel that has turned out surprisingly well. We dont plan to stay late tonight as everyone is still not quite adjusted to the time yet. Considering its a Saturday in June at the MK, we feel we have accomplished a fair bit today. We leave at 4pm on the monorail. Back to the villa where the kidlets crash out by 6pm. Mum settles in front of a horrid looking US soap and Dh and I head out for a meal on our own. We go to Bill Wongs on I-Drive which has been a fave place of ours since our single days. We enjoy a nice meal and head back at 10pm.

Tomorrow: Illuminations Cruise

I would have started panicing too - the princess's were very late, glad you had fun though.

Great report :)
