Allergy Menus

I am looking through the menus on the Disney site and I have noticed that non-Disney owned restaurants do not have an allergy menu posted. Does anyone know what this means in terms of allergy accommodations at these restaurants? I was specifically looking at Yak & Yeti and San Angel Inn Restaurante. This will be my first time traveling with my son who is allergic to eggs. I don't want to make reservations for restaurants that will not have something he can eat.

Rest assured, Disney is wonderful when it comes to allergies. Our typical group of 6 consists of peanut, tree nut, egg, sesame and gluten allergies and we’ve never had an issue eating at any Disney restaurant (whether or not the restaurant was owned by Disney.) I usually note allergies on our reservation, and again remind the waitress when we are seated. Enjoy 🙂

Non-Disney owned restaurants do treat allergies differently! Their chefs and cast members do not have the same allergy training as Disney owned restaurants and don't have to adhere to the same standards. We haven't had good luck specifically with the non-Disney owned restaurants in World Showcase at EPCOT and many others have reported the same.

San Angel only has a gluten/dairy allergy menu. I'm in a Disney allergy group online and San Angel has horrible reviews, common complaints that staff is not knowledgeable about allergies, ingredients or cross-contamination, chef does not always come out even when requested (which needs to happen where there isn't a top 8 allergy menu) and the allergy toothpick common in Disney owned restaurants is sometimes missing which is a huge red flag. La Hacienda is the Mexican quick service at EPCOT and gets great reviews fyi.

Yak and Yeti does have better reviews, the company they are owned by (Landry's) does an OK job in general with allergies. They do not offer top 8 menus so you won't know what you can have until you get there and speak with someone unfortunately.

I can tell you that the weekday chef - "Junior" - at Yak & Yeti is very good with allergies. Plus he's just a really nice guy. I travel often with a girlfriend who has several allergies - including mushrooms - and he comes out to the table and chats to discuss what he can prepare that will be suitable.

Just note your ADR, and tell the server that you have a food allergy... As well at the Quick serve's with the mobile ordering, tell a CM that you have a food allergy and ask to order inside, they have a huge book with everything list for every thing...

I have a food allergy, I'm allergic to coconut, which is not really that common. They will send the chef out to the table to talk to you... the chef will let you know what your options are...which is so great.

Thank you this is really helpful to know.

We have one peanut and one tree nut allergy eater in our family. Yak and Yeti was great with their allergies (as were almost all other dining options) when we went there before COVID.
