When at a quick service, do you just ask for the "allergy free" version,

ie..the Main Street bakery carries popcorn and cookies by Divvies Popcorn, is this out on a shelf or do you need to ask for it? They also have brownies by French Meadow.

Same thing with the macaroni and cheese at Columbia Harbor House / Pinocchio Village Hous / Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant. Or is this just what they serve?

Thank you,

Mara:goodvibes

In the stores they have the Divviess version out and in some of the quick serves at the resorts. At the sit down and buffets they usually have it in the back and will bring out a brownie or popcorn or something treenut free for my daughter for dessert. Sometimes we just carry it with us. :thumbsup2

Ah yes the carry with you option. I do that often, I was happy to see that I could get something for my youngest, when his big brother gets something. He's used to having to have something "special", but you can tell he would like the same thing (which I do bring enough for both, but you know what I mean).

His allergies are hmm, different. More sensitivities (though he does have a shellfish/dairy allergy/aspirin) that require lots of subs on my part. Avoiding all dyes, artificial flavors, preservatives, etc..takes some creativity.

The table service rest. have been great in the past, but counter service always makes me a tad nervous.

Be aware that Disney is currently overhauling their allergy products. Divvies cookies and French Meadow products are nowhere to be found and will no longer be carried. Cookies and brownies are now OMG... It's Gluten Free. I believe I've read that the chocolate chip cookies are the ones without milk but the brownies do have milk. The allergy buns are Udi's and it looks as though the pizza crusts likely are as well (no longer Ener-G). Even the soy milk brand has changed from Silk to Kikkomann Pearl.

As to which locations carry what products, nobody can get a straight answer on that either. Special Diets doesn't seem to want to send out ANY information. Join us over on the disABILITIES! board as people report their findings in a thread about latest allergy food info.

In my experience, the quick service locations are hyper-sensitive when it comes to allergies, and will bring out their entire ingredient 3-ring binder for you to take a look at if you mention an allergy or food sensitivity. That wasn't a big deal for me, since I had done a ton of research about all the locations we would be eating at, but if you haven't it can be a bit daunting. Many of the cashiers don't really know the intricacies of each type of allergy, and will simply have you reference the binder.

But you're right; in the bakery they have some of the items like Divvies sitting out beside the register for you to grab. The Ice Cream parlor specifically states that they carry specialty ice creams, as well!

We did decent last year with the counter service, the carts were not too bad, those binders help. I didnt know last year though about some of the desert/snack options and requests. We did the ddp last trip, this year oop. Trying to get all my ducks in a row. :goodvibes
