Allergies -gluten and dairy

These have been gone for everywhere except places with mobile order for a long time. I don't think they are coming back. Even a sample menu would help. I would love to see a website or blog that has updated allergy menus. You would think with all the people who do the videos and blogs of Disney there would be a niche market for someone to go get those menus. I sure would follow that page!

I haven't been to DL since Feb so haven't really checked DL dine. I think it's a shame, especially since WDW seems to think it's worthwhile to keep the menus posted.

There are quite a few WDW-focused dining web pages and I know of a few that focus on gluten free (that's my need) that have menus posted or at least mention a few of the dishes. I suppose it would be 'labor intensive' to keep things up to date unless you go to the parks quite often.

I'd be willing to be that the Special Diets dept at DLR are being kept busy with people emailing 'Can I eat at XX? What do they offer for XX allergy?".

I emailed to see if I could get some menus and they said they do not do that and to visit City Hall. I hate going to City Hall though, it eats up so much time because the line is always so long. We have someone with gluten, dairy, and some other not so common allergies going with us and planning has been so hard.

We're going to do a character meal, dinner at Naples and then are trying to figure out one more table service for the trip. The rest will all be counter service.

So I wonder if they keep copies of the various allergy menus themselves at City Hall? Because the 'allergy foods list' has been gone for a donkey's age.

If they have paper menus to hand out at CH that's one thing. But if all they have are the cardboard/laminated ones 'to look at' that would take up too much darn time!

Pretty sure any CS that has burgers will have allergy buns. But no guarantee of a dedicated fryer. I know they had one at Smokejumpers in Feb, and they had one at Hungry Bear a few years ago. The burgers I've had at both places have always been tasty. And the teriyaki chicken/veg at Lucky Fortune is one of my favs. Plaza Inn had good pot roast & mashed potatoes with GF gravy. I'm GF only though, not DF too.

We don't really do TS much at DLR. Used to love Storytellers til they went buffet. But I'm leery of buffets at the best of times and I can't eat $40-60 worth of food. I liked Carnation, too, til they did away with their dedicated fryer.

I wonder what their 'cancellation policy' will be if a party rocks up with an ADR, asks for the allergy menu then says "Nope, nothing for me here!". They best not try to charge a cancellation fee!!!!

OP I feel your struggles. We are also looking for an arrival night sit down and both DTD and Garden Walk look so blah besides not looking very safe. I have a month until ADR date but I am very discouraged. I understand supplies can change at times but is it really that variable that they can't have a basic menu to share? We are crossing the country for this trip and can't look at food options? I guess I'm spoiled on WDW. Although, taking a trip to Chicago in a couple weeks and I can find safe options on restaurant menus there so...what's up DLR? It's like they are trying to alienate the allergy community that depends on Disney.

I'm sort of feeling like that, too. The allergy menus are still on the WDW dining pages. I don't get why DLR can't do that, too.

So, yeah, what's up with that, DLR?

An FYI, as of yesterday Sep 17, it appears that DLR has removed a LOT of the allergy menus from their dining pages. They now say "Guests must speak to a Cast Member about their allergy-friendly request". This is a real bummer as it makes it very hard for people with dietary needs to make ADRs, simply because we won't know whether or not there will be anything we like on the menu or whether we can be accommodated in the first place.

I'm hoping this is just temporary.

EDIT: just checked the WDW dining pages. Allergy menus are still there so not sure what's going on with DLR

Man, that's really frustrating. If it means they're taking GF food off the menu and becoming less safe, then they'll be a destination that is far less frequented by this family.

I don't necessarily think it means they're removing GF offerings, the allergy menus are still offered, it's just that we'll have to go to the eatery 'in person' to see what they have. A waste of valuable time if we end up standing in line only to say 'yuck' when we see the menu. And a waste of an ADR for the same reason.

Case in point for me: Tiana's. Now, let me preface by saying the allergy offerings are online there. But if they weren't, neither of the GF offerings really appeals to me so it would be a big waste of time if I stood in line and only to walk away. I guess I'll have to end up being 'that person' who walks up the line to the nearest CM and asks to see the menu before I bother to get in line.
