For those of you who have been pregnant and have allergies, what did you take to help with the allergies? I normally take Zyrtec but the nurse said take Claritin instead. Claritin doesn't do a thing for me.

The nurse also suggested sudafed but the sudafed I want is for sinus pressure/sinus relief and the pharmacist said to check with the nurse again b/c the sudafed sinus has decongestant which can cause high blood pressure. The pharmacist aslo said she was surprised the nurse didn't recommend Zyrtec.

Of course the nurse isn't available now and I left a message but now I'm curious what others have done when they can't take the allergies anymore.

To relieve my super nasty sinus headaches I would take a sudafed (sometimes two if I felt my head was going to explode), two regular tylenol and regular coke. The caffeine coupled with the acetaminophine and sudafed got rid of the sinus headaches immediatly. It did nothing for serious congestion, just bad head pain.

Good luck!

Definitely wait for your doctor's advice. When I was PG and had a cold, they recommended Sudafed - just the plain old Sudafed.

Hope you find some relief soon.

Thanks!

I'm still waiting for the doctor's office to call back. The thing with the regular sudafed is it doesn't work on the sinuses which is what I'm having the most trouble with. I'll have to wait and see what they say.

I took both zyrtec and claritin while I was pregnant, they're both category b drugs. I had horrible nasal congestion with all 3 pregnancies. I couldn't use any decongestants with the third because they thought she had an arrhythmia. i wenth through lots and lots of saline solution.

That's what the pharmacist said, that Zyrtec is category B which is why she was suprised the nurse said Claritin instead. Of course she said talk to the doctor first which is naturally what I am going to do.
