Glad to read the info on this thread about soy. I'm allergic to most RAW fruits & some veggies. I have to have them cooked a bit before I can eat them. I guess heating them breaks down the raw acids.
A while back, I started drinking some soy milks as I may be lactose intolerant. However, I noticed I would get gassy & bloated with some soy milk brands. When I tried the SILK brand, that has to be kept refrigerated even before opening, I noticed my mouth & throat really swelled up & got irritated.
I figured in the processing of it, they didn't heat the soy milk, which is probably also why it has to be kept refrigerated, whereas most other soy milks are packaged in those cartons that can stay long-term on store shelves, and probably heated during the packaging, to make them shelf stable.
Glad to read that an allergy to soy is not all that uncommon after all, or that as one gets older, one suddenly gets more allergic then they were before. So it's NOT my imagination after all, or that I am becoming a hypochondriac as I age.
OP, it could also be an allergic reaction to the HORMONES used in meats nowadays. I started eating more chicken over red meats as it's considered healthier. But after several months, I found I just couldn't stomach the idea of eating another bite of chicken, no matter how well I disguised it in sauces, etc.

Someone mentioned, I might have built up an intolerance to ingesting all the hormones they pump into those chickens, and my body said ENOUGH!

I switched to organic chickens & haven't had a problem eating it since.
The sausage might also have trace amounts of mono-sodium glutamate in it, disguised under another name, or listed as one of those unnamed "other spices." Many people are allergic to it.
