JUST BOOKED RT FROM ALLENTOWN PA TO SANFORD, FL ON ALLEGIANT AIR IN JULY.
THIS IS A DIRECT FLIGHT EACH WAY...YEAH!
WITH TAXES & ASSIGNED SEATS EACH PERSONS TOTAL TICKET COST...195.90!!!!!!!!!

We flew Allegiant from Worcester to Sanford in Feb. No problems at all, brought our own snacks and soda (though there was a peanut allergy on board and we couldn't eat our pb crackers). Our return flight is way too early 7:30 am!! That's my only complaint.

Thanks for the info. Flight going down is 1:00pm arrive 3:30pm. Return flight is 3:25pm arrive 5:55pm! Plenty of time to get up & out!

how long is the drive from Sanford to WDW?

That's a great price. Especially from Allentown direct! Now if I could just get dh on an airplane. He says I can fly. He'll drive and meet me! Have a great trip!

Southeast, TransMeridian and Hooters have all backed out of Allentown and went belly up.-in the last couple of years ...
believe me i know i had ressies on each 1 and had to fight to get my money back,
hope you paid with a credit card and not a debit. :rolleyes1

Yes I did use a CC. I heard that Hooters was a great airline. Played games with the kids for prizes,etc...Its a shame. I will let the CC company fight them if worse comes to worse.

We also had problems with Southeast out Allentown a few years back. The airline never notified us they were no longer servicing ABE. I heard it on the news and this was three weeks before our trip!!! I really had to scramble to get air transportation. Fortunately our trip was early January and I was able to get Southwest out of PHL no problem. Since then we've stuck with SW. Wonderful customer service, really great prices (our last trip was $137.00 pp
rt inclusive) and best part, if you need to make changes in your flights, no problems and no charges. Gotta love SW!!! We have an airport practically in our backyard (AVP) however, I gladly make the two hour drive to PHL to get good service, good DIRECT flights, and great prices.

donnal im in NEPA also is AW the best to take out of phl
im going in dec. when do thay open up dec. flight?

thanks

daddyof2,

If you're planning on flying out of PHL, you can probably get direct flights on
Southwest, Airtran, or USAirways. I only have experience with SW and we've been very happy with their service. I've others say Airtran tends to change times of flights and USAirways just costs way too much. I love SW because of their great customer service, and their great prices, plus we've always been able to get a good direct flight time for our purposes. Last year we traveled 12/10 thru 12/17. I was able to book the 10th one way in mid July and the return fare on the 17th sometime the second week of August. Sometimes you're better to book ow's with SW because when their sales are released it's easier to change the fare one way than worry about a round trip ressie. So I would say start checking their website by the second week of July for December fares. I'm waiting for 10/14/ thru 10/20 right now, but, historically SW has released early Oct. in mid May and after 10/15 not until June, so I'm going to be looking at one way's again.

In all honestly, you didn't get such a good deal. SW and US offer direct flights to/from Philly into MCO--a longer drive to Philly but then a shorter drive from MCO to WDW so it evens out.

I can usually find flights on SW or US in the $150 r/t range, and they offer a lot more daily flights.

I agree with you, Anne, about it not being such a good deal. Our last trip was $137.10 rt pp inclusive from PHL on SW. Some people have a problem with SW because of the fact they have no assigned seating. Personally, I've never found that to be a problem. Actually, I'd rather pick my own seat as I'm getting on the plane (then it's up to me if I feel like sitting near a family with six kids, two of which are completely wound up already!!) Just kidding!!! I've got three kids of my own (all grown) and a 4 year old grandson, so I've been there. As long as you do online check in 24 hours prior to your flight, you should have no problem getting A boarding passes and choosing where you sit.

Rt taxi from The Poconos to PHL runs around $200.00. I am sure parking for 10 days in PHL is high also. I HATE asking anyone to drive us down & pick us up...it is a 2 hour drive each way! So It would actually cost WAY more for me to fly out of PHL. Allentown airport is just a 30 minute drive from my home.

I just booked AirTran out of PHL in Sept for $187.00 RT for four. (every other airline just did not have the day(s)/time(s) I needed. I am planning on using an off site parking lot (from some research it looks like about $10.00 per day) with shuttle right from your car to the terminal.
Last year we flew Delta out of ABE with a layover each way - it really was a long trip both ways! And parking was about $80.00.
So I am happy with trying PHL for this trip ( I just hope AirTran does not change the times too drastically!)

Um, you are very mistaken. Parking in Philly is between $7-10 per day.

i was told buy a freind of mine to park&fly from sheriton four points? (i think thats the name

so we go to philly on sunday the 3rd sleep at hotel $97.00 free parking in secure lot for up to 2 weeks they shuttle us to airport(so we can leave earlyer around 7am then after disney the shuttle takes us back to our car and we go home

rather then drive down and try to catch plane this is aggrivation free
(dad is on vacation too)

I booked a room at the Sheraton Suites at the Philadelphia Airport. I bid on it thru Priceline and paid $58.00. DH drove kids and I down the night before. We had a nice room and didn't have to get up 3 1/2 hours early to drive to the Philly airport. We did this last year as well, but paid to park our van at the hotel lot. It was $10 per day. Free airport shuttle to and from airport.

Don't know why people can't just say...Thats a great price from ABE to MCO!
( I live in Norristown almost 1/2 way between PHL and ABE.. I would pay a little more to fly out of ABE for the convienence, easy access to parking, less congested area, avoiding 95 traffic, no rush hour traffic, safer short term parking, lower crime rate and if nothing else the air does not stink like an oil refinery-gotta love PHL airport)

I cannot speak to whether it's a good deal for your area, but I know many people that fly them from here and they have been very happy with them. From where I am, Allegiant is the best deal unless we drive 3 hours to where Air Tran flies and they change their flight times and they are not all non-stop. Allegiant is the only airlines that flies to Orlando non stop from here with prices that are over $100 less in most cases.

We don't even bother with driving/parking our own car to PHL. Since we live EXTREMELY close to WilkesBarre/Scranton Airport (practically in our backyard) we just rent a Budget car from there and drop it at PHL and have one reserved at PHL to drop at AVP for the return trip. Cost is about $80.00
(comparable to parking at PHL for the week) and we still save quite a bit when four or five of us are traveling. If tickets average close to $200 rdtrp
and we pay $137 on SW, that's $63 savings per person or $252 for four. Deduct the $80 for the two one way rentals and savings are $172. That pays for a nice dinner one evening at Disney!!! At I stated earlier I live very close to AVP, but, can't get a direct decently priced flight from there, so I don't mind the drive to PHL to get a direct flight. Two hour drive and two hour direct flight vs. a 5 minute drive and about five and half hours flying with a connection in yet another congested airport. Give me the 2 and 2 anyday.
We've never hit really bad traffic going to PHL ....it's a straight shot down
476 to 95N and then only on 95N for less than 10 miles. Granted if you're traveling during early morning rush hour Philly area is not fun, but, we try to get our flight around noon, so we're not even hitting the Philly area until shortly after 9:00 a.m. and we're still in Orlando by 2:00 p.m. or so.

You are right, it is a great price from Allentown. But you also have to figure in transportation to WDW, as ME doesn't service the Orlando/Sanford airport. Adding the price of a rental car or towncar pickup kind of evens out the price. I have also done the one way car rental and will probably do that again as well.
