Alleluia!!! Removing pre arrival covid 19 testing is on the horizon

Anxious to see if it's really ALL or just moving to antigen instead (hoping for removing ALL of course).
Of course they would change it now. I've got all my ducks in a row for scenario a,b c and possible d, f & g  Whatever it is...seeing restrictions start to lift is a step in the right direction. It is time to start learning to live in a world where covid is.

We return to Canada Feb 26... I hope I don't have to struggle to find different tests. I hope it's dropped which will make our return to much easier!

News conference was supposed to start at 11am EST but I can't find any more info.....come on already, we are waiting :rotfl2:

I hope there is a good summary when it's done lol, I always miss them! can't watch on the work computer :(

I'm convinced that the #1 reason they might drop PCR tests is that we now have a HUGE problem of millions of people who caught Omicron, but never had it PCR confirmed. So thousands of travelers will falsely test positive on PCR tests because of a long-past infection, and people will fight any quarantine or fines because the government could not provide them a PCR test when they needed it.
In Ontario, waste-water surveillance and other measures lead to estimates that anywhere from 1.5-million to 4-million Ontarians got Omicron in Dec and Jan. We all know 1.5-million PCR tests were not performed in that period.

I'm convinced that if they drop requirements, they'll reduce this to rapid antigen tests and not simply drop everything.

I'm still bringing our LAMP tests just in case, but I'd be so happy to flush those 600$ down the drain and not use them!

Oh, I really hope this happens! We are heading down to DL in March and it would be so nice not to have to worry about figuring out testing before we come home! I've already got our pre-departure tests booked at YVR but finding tests before we come home is still on my to-do list.

Need the US to follow suit as well. Although it is less stressful to test at home, it still raises the possibility of having to cancel a trip.
Unfortunately the CDC said just the other day they have no plans to do that.

But you only need an antigen test to fly to the US, don't need one to drive across at all. Antigen are at least easier to find (and cheaper to pay for in many provinces). It's also not like PCR that may still show you positive even though you had COVID months ago. Yes, you may still be positive and need to cancel a trip but I think it would be less likely to happen. Could be wrong on that though.

This is getting me so pumped up for my trip in April! I wonder if they will open up more flights now too. We are flying out the Sunday due to the Saturday being so expensive, but we are hoping this will mean maybe we can find a cheaper fare for the Saturday now. Would be nice to have one extra day like we originally planned!
