Allegiant Air

We have used Allegiant twice once to Florida and once to Vegas. On the vegas flight we did not have paid seats but it was just my husband and I. The florida trip we did because we had the kids with us and our youngest has Autism so we wanted to make sure we were in the same seats by one another. We are scheduled to fly allegiant to LA in a week and we again purchased seat assisgnments just because I was also scared about being seperated. This time it is just 3 of us my DH, DS (autism) and really again needed to make sure we were together so didn't take the chance. Our experience on Allegiant has been great each time so far. Have a great trip. I find having the seat assignment just makes me stress less:)

MacLora - Were the cancellations due to weather or something else?

Nope. We booked several months in advance, because they had special pricing. I got 6 return flights from Bellingham WA to Long Beach for under $275 total (including everything). Right, $45 per person.
Anyway, they decided to change the dates of their flights, so that we would either fly in Thurs, fly out Sat (one day at DL???) or fly back out Thurs, so a week. The week would have been great but we didn't have the budget. We originally planned on like 4 days.

Anyway, they have done that twice to us in less than 2 years. Offer great prices, practically free, several months out, then change the dates.

We are now driving all the way from Vancouver to DL.

Not to be a negative Nelly, but I had a friend at work almost get arrested on an Allegiant flight. She simply asked why they were moving her bag to another overhead compartment, and the air hostess told her that if she didn't stop being so aggressive, they would have her arrested. HUH?

Anyway, hopefully these are isolated incidents and that everything works out well for you!!! :cheer2:

We just did the Eugene to LAX flight last weekend. We didn't pay for any checked baggage. We just had carry on luggage. The plane was full so they checked them for us for free.

We always get assigned seats because we find it is easier to be sitting in your seat and getting comfortable then be one of the people that are wondering around the plane looking for seats that are open. And we have kids so there is no way they would want to sit next to strangers! We also don't pay for priority boarding. They have snacks and drinks for purchase. Let me know if you have any specific questions ;)

The fare that we got per person was $146.00 round trip.

Allegiant will never, ever get another dime of my money. We got a "great deal" from Bellingham> Long Beach (we live in Seattle so we had to take a train up and stay overnight) to have them cancel our flight. The worst part was they weren't going to get us out for 3 days which was unacceptable.

Not a big deal if your dates are flexible, but a total dealbreaker if they're not. When all was said and done, we ended up paying over $1200 to get tickets on Alaska when Allegiant screwed us over. And they refused all refunds.

No thanks Allegiant. NEVER again.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience.

We have flown Allegiant over a dozen times in the 2+ years of us living in WA. They have never cancelled a flight. One flight was delayed and they actually ordered pizza and drinks for us as we waited.

No complaints here, but this is out of Pasco.

FlameGirl - That's horrible! Was the cancellation due to weather or something else?

FlameGirl - That's horrible! Was the cancellation due to weather or something else?

It was partially due to weather...the weather didn't help, but Alaska was able to get their flights out with no problem. The REAL problem was that Allegiant only has one deicer in Bellingham, and it was on the fritz. That was their fault, not an "act of God", so it would stand to reason that they would issue refunds or at the VERY LEAST, try to get us out when the weather let up (which was later that same day) but nope. Also the hoard of people was an angry mob and turned on each other, and their staff did nothing to intervene. It almost came to physical blows. It was a nightmare.

I'm glad others have had good experiences but for me, I will pay extra for peace of mind.

I love Allegiant, I have flown them many many times to LA (Not Disney vacations) and loved it, it is convenient for me being that I live right in a city they fly out of rather than driving and having to pay for a shuttle or parking 2 hours away. Never have had an issue with them in probably 15+ flights.

Now, I have never really paid much attention to their airfares, I just book it because it has always been business and the flights are paid for, but now I am looking at surprising my boyfriend with a trip to Disneyland (he has never been - ever) and I am a fanatic!

With that said, I do not mean to ramble - but does anyone know about how far out they put tickets up, I am looking at November? And then also how you really get those cheap cheap airfares? Is there any rhyme or reason?

Thanks for your replies :goodvibes

flown them several times out of Medford to LA and to Vegas.

they measure the carry-on and it is a smaller size allowed than most airlines. If you have backpack/soft duffle, no problem. they have NEVER offered to check for free but have demanded I check bag that was perfectly fine for United...(and that was 18" size..Allegiant measures the wheels/handle too).

Cheap flight though...no problems as long as you pack right.

We have used them to fly from Pasco to Vegas.

However this summer we are headed to DL and I am thinking of using them to fly from Pasco to LAX. We are trying to keep cost down and paying $14x8 seems a bit expensive for me, wife and 11 & 6 year old daughters.

I was thinking of buying a reserved seat for just myself, so I could get on the plane before open seating and pick out our seats. Either that or present my reserved seat ticket along with the other 3 non reserved tickets at the same time and hope that we all are let on during assigned seating. Anyone think this is a viable option?

We took that flight last week. I don't think that's a good option.

They said repeatedly during boarding that no one could hold a seat. I wouldn't risk the chance of an argument.

They announce priority first. Only a couple of people picked this option. Next came people who paid for assigned seats. Only about 20% took this option.

They next announced boarding for families.

The last announcement was for all boarding. At this time, the people who had assigned seats but didn't make it to those seats had lost them. I witnessed two instances where people were not happy their seats were taken.

The last people to board were a dad with a young son. They made an annoucement asking for volunteers to switch seats so they could sit together.

The plane seats two on the right and three on the left. I would just plan to sit, two and two. They board the plane both from the front and from the tail. They request families with children to use the front door.

I don't think you would have any problems using general boarding.

Also a suggestion. Go to PSC and buy your tickets at the ticket counter. You will not have to pay the convenience fee of booking through their website. That will save you another $30 per roundtrip.

Have fun!

Thought of something else to add.

They asked for everyone to remain seated until their boarding category was called. They would not board if people gathered by the gate.

It wouldn't hurt to get there a little early and stake out some seats by gate 4 (the Allegiant gate), by the snack bar. Then you will be one of the first to board in your category.

HalloweenQueen thanks for replying, I was hoping you would chime in :)
I think I will go with the open seating. I can see the $112 being better spent elsewhere.
