Anyone flown with them into Sanford? Is it much of a trip to the Disney resorts from Sanford?
If we use them it would be about $1200-$1300 including the rental of a minivan.
Watching the prices on Delta, they'd be (maybe) around $1500-$1600 for our area.
So, unless I find a great deal with Delta, Allegiant it may be. I need some opinions, experiences, etc. If it's not good, it may be worth the extra cost to use Delta. :confused3

that seems a bit pricey. how many people??? i flew with them last year (july 09) from sanford to elmira ny and back. price was $29 each way. non stop. 1hr 55min.

My rate was $29.99 one way, $49.99 for the return flight for 6 people. That price includes $316.00 for rental of a minivan.
What was your flight like? Just wondering also, did you rent a vehicle also? Will there be additional fees/taxes on the rental when I pick it up?
I've read lots of horror stories online so I'm really unsure, lol.

didnt rent a car (had my cousins while staying with her)..my only complaint was seats didnt recline,no big deal though.

Personally I think an extra $50 - $65 per person is a small price to pay to fly a real airline that is better equipped to handle problems.

Assuming you are flying from Roanoke, VA they operate 2 flights per week to Orlando. If there is a cancellation you entire vacation could be ruined.

There were a couple recent posts where the day of the week was changed after they booked. They made a reservation for Sunday but Allegiant changed their flight to Monday.

For those that have flown into Sanford, how did you get to Disney? Rent a car, Town car? My friend said she's getting a town car for $200 round trip instead of renting a car. I've never flown Allegiant, but am considering it.

I hadn't even thought of the scary thought that something couldhappen to cancel & then we'd be up a creek until the next time they had flights out of Roanoke. & yes, Roanoke, Va.
Think I'm actually going to go with either Delta or SW. Out of Roanoke, Delta has had rates of $209 round trip. Or, we can drive the 3 hours to Richmond & they had rates of $138 roundtrip. Not bad rates I think. If we can fly for less than or right around $1500 for the 6 of us, I'll be thrilled to pieces.
We can travel to Dulles or Raleigh/Durham for SW but it was about the same rate as flying Delta out of Roanoke, only thing would be no baggage fees.
But, I have totally ruled out Allegiant, too many scary things for my family. & then we'll be flying into MCO, so ME all the way, no need for a minivan rental. Thanks for all the input, it really made it easy to reach my decision.
& even though I know these aren't rates I'm finding for our actual trip, I'm pretty confident we'll be able to find decent rates for when we are going.

If you go to Allegiant.com & price out the flight, you can get the car rental rate with your tickets. When I priced out ours, we would have been paying $316 for a minivan rental for a week thru Alamo. You get the option of what size vehicle you need.

I hadn't really thought about the "what if they canceled or changed the flight either!" That could be scary! If I want to fly SW, I have to go to RDU too, it's about 2 hours away from me. I really like SW, because of the direct flight and no baggage fees! I haven't flown them much though. Lately, we've been driving! I'd rather fly, but air has been pricey lately.I keep hoping for a good Ding for the week before Xmas! LOL! Not likely though!:rotfl:

My friend said her rental car quote was $400 for the week and the town car (I'm not sure which company) was only $200. She's going next month, not around the holiday! Unfortunately, we've been going around peak times lately, which is why I haven't found any good deals and we've been driving! I am still checking though! Maybe, I will get lucky!:)

We have flown Allegiant 3 times in the last year -- twice to Sanford, once to MCO. From Sanford, we did both a car rental and a town car service. The drive is about 50 miles, right at 1 hour to anywhere on property. Town cars run right around $200 R/T. It is a small airport (think more regional type) that is very easy to get in and out of. If I got a great deal on the flight, I wouldn't have a problem doing either of those again. However, I much prefer the flight into MCO and taking Magical Express.
