Has anyone flown with this airline? I live between Chattanooga and Atlanta, so I usually use Airtran or Delta, but I found a great rate with Allegiant. Just curious if anyone has had a good or bad experience with them?

I've not flown them but the majority gives them a thumbs up; they've been one of the few airlines showing a profit the last couple years. Please be aware that the price initially shown on the website is actually higher once their fees are added. Many flights go into Orlando-Sanford International, not Orlando International. You'll pay extra for baggage check (not uncommon anymore), seat assignments, drinks. But if it's a great price, so what.

We have used them several times out of Allentown. You do have to watch fees. Make sure you uncheck what you don't want ...such as priority boarding, seat assignments etc. Also if you can make it to the airport to book it saves a $15 convenience fee. Keep checking the airfares too! We've booked for $ 29.99 each way.

I just flew with them the first time from Grand Rapids to Vegas. If you go to the airport and book your tickets, you don't have to pay the $14 fee. Plus we didn't pay for the priority seating which saved us some there too.

We had no issues with them at all and I don't fly much, but you don't get a free drink & snack.. they do have them to buy though. $2 for a pop or water. Even paying for the drinks it was still a lot cheaper than flying with anyone else.

Currently Chattanooga flights go into Sanford, which means no DME. You are going to have to factor in transportation costs from the Sanford airport.

I have flown Allegiant several times. It's fine - no issues. Yes, I agree with the service fees. Watch out - they can add $30+ to your ticket cost. But, if you don't mind low cost, no frills flying and can get a good deal go for it! :)

I believe in the very near future (2/15 ?) Allegiant will be flying into MCO, not SFB.

I am coming back Feb. 6 and they start Feb. 8 going to MCO, I really wanted to go with them but didn't want to go to Sanford.

They have great rates, I will probably use them in the future.

Thanks guys for the input. I booked it for 80 rt ended up after all the fees to be 560 for the 3 of us. I feel ok bout it. Wish I had known about the change to MCO before I booked. I got the thing where - can make changes so maybe I'll try that after the start going there.

Not all of their flights are switching to MCO, just select cities (10). You have to be careful. According to the list on their website, Chattanooga is still Sanford.

MCO is only:

Allentown, PA
Des Moines, IA
Grand Rapids, MI
Greenville/Spartanburg, SC
Huntington WV
Knoxville, TN
Lexington, KY
Springfield, MO
Tri-Cities TN/VA
Youngstown, OH

A little help with this. What do you mean book when you get to the airport? I live about 20 min from the airport they fly out of, can I just go there and book my flights for Sept/Oct trip when they open up or do I have to wait till they day we fly?

If you see a good fare online and can make the trip to the airport ...booking there will save the convenience fee. I believe you can only book at the airport right after a flight leaves. We also have a kiosk for allegiant at Lehigh Valley mall, you can book there also as long is someone is working the kiosk. But if you see a great sale fare... get there as soon as you can. They had flight for 20.10 on Jan 1st and we waited to go to the airport until the flight left and by that time the sale price was gone.

Thank you so much, I went to the site and got some info. Of course your info makes much more sense. I have not seen a kiosk here but will now start looking.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I'll try my best to get the info for you. We only live about 10 min from the airport and have gotten spoiled. As a matter of fact we found $29.99 fares to Myrtle Beach through Allegiant and now we're taking a quick spring trip...yeah!!

dansyr2514, do you mind me asking... how much more did you end up having to pay once everything else was tacked on to the 29.99? Or can you really get the advertised fare if you refuse priority boarding, seating assignments and go to the airport to avoid the convenience fee?

If we see a great rate and don't want to risk getting to the airport, do you happen to know if you pay the convenience fee per ticket? And then just once or for each direction?

Thanks!

Well we just spent $211 for two people round trip. However subtract $40 for dbf's golf bag and $30 for the convenience fee. So it ended up being $141 for 2 people roundtrip...without checked luggage, choosing seats or priority boarding.

The convenience fee is per person...so for 2 people it is approximately $30 roundtrip.

Hope that helps! We are 2 adult...so on a short trip if we happen to get split up because we didn't choose seats ..it's no biggie. However we've flown them several times and always ended up sitting together. Also without priority boarding sometimes your carryons may not be right above you...however when we were some of the last boarding they ended up checking our bags for free( they were a larger carryon) So I would suggest keeping anything you absolutely need in a purse.

Hi dansyr! Lower Saucon here! I was all set to book Airtran from ABE to MCO but their flights have gone up alost $100 per ticket in the last few days, so I've been looking at Allegiant. All the fees are confusing me - so the conveniece fee of $15 per person - is that they only fee waived if I go book at ABE directly? I see there is $13.99 per person, per flight for seat assignment (which I will need, I'm traveling alone with 2 kids, so I want to guarantee that we're sitting together) and the $6.99 Priority Boarding fee (which I also think I need, we only travel with carry-ons & if their overhead space is gone by the time we board I will have to pay to check our carry-ons )....are either of these $13.99 or $6.99 fees waived if I book at ABE? If they are, then it's worth my time to go over to ABE (about 20-25 min. for me depending on 378 traffic). If it's just the $15 pp convenience fee, then I'm not sure it's worth it just to save $45.

I found a great deal on allegiant a few minutes ago and got the convience fee to remove from mine. Ours will be $110 round trip for 2 adults. To remove the fee I went to the page it was on and read it really carefully you have to unclick the check box for priority boarding and then click the blue 'change' box it will turn red and say remove and then you click it again. Poof $30 in convience fees each gone. I love my DH but not engough to pay $30 to sit next to him for an hour flight!

Kinda OT but I'm dying to find out. Our flights will go into Sanford as well anyone know how much cab fare would run us to Disney particularly the AK area (looking at All Star resorts). Rental cards are high out of sanford best I can find is $200 for 4 days, thats almost twice our airfare!

Great tip Pirate Girl! I will try it shortly!

I think the $200 for the rental might be your cheapest option to have from Sanford to WDW. It will cost at least that much for a taxi or car service round trip.

Ok I see - you still pay the $15 pp convenience fee when booking online - the fee you got to disappear was the Priority Seating fee...I knew you could opt out of that (and the Priority Boarding fee) - I got excited because I thought you actually found a way to waive those PLUS the conveniece fee! Looks like the only way to do that is to book at the airport. I found 1 seat at $19.99 the dates I need - comes to $44 total (opting out of Seating & Boarding fees) - would only be $29 if I drove over to the airport to book it!
