Allegiant Air will be flying from Bangor and Peoria shortly. I got the information in a Sanford Airport Board Meeting yesterday. For those of you that like non-stop flights from the smaller airports check out the Allegiant web site.

Keep in mind the airline charges for everything, maybe even the moon, but the numbers usually come out quite a bit cheaper than landing Orlando International Airport. Their load factor is 97 % so they must be doing something right. They seem to be landing pretty much on time.

Allegiant lands at Orlando Sanford International Airport, 50 miles from WDW. The Disney Magical Express does not serve the airport (SFB).

Just some additional info. Just heard on the radio that Allegiant Air will be offering nonstop flights from Bangor International Airport to Orlando/Sanford on Wednesdays & Saturdays starting today for anyone whose interested. We live in the next town over from Bangor so this is great news but I need to research this airline some more.

Are those the only flights or the only direct flights?

I will be up your way on Sunday. Staying the night in Bangor then have to be at UMO at 8am for open house on Monday.

March break is $249 and $164 one way! Not to mention for paying luggage and seats and other misc. charges!

You have to pay for luggage? I need to really research this airline - we go on vacation w/lots of luggage - lol!

What are the other airlines charging for the same week? That is close to Easter and all tickets to Florida will be high, so don't judge by the above rates.

We got $59 tickets each way for our Jan trip. This will be our 2nd time flying Allegiant. They do charge for luggage now, which I find crazy, but I still come out cheaper than flying our other local choices. I think the luggage is $6 for the first piece per person and $10 for each piece per person after that. I am having the kids take small rolling suitcases for their carryons which will make our checked luggage much less. They also charge for snacks and drinks, but our flight is a 1 1/2 hour non stop flight and we dont buy anything extra. The bad thing is they only fly on certain days which makes you book your vacation around their schedule. M,W,F are the days they fly out of my home airport. One flight a day- hoping it doesnt snow for our Jan trip:scared1: !!!!!

We flew Allegiant in May from Knoxviile to Clearwater/St Pete for our annual trip. Yes the do charge for luggage $5.00/Bag and they do charge for drinks, etc and $11.00/pp to reserve seats each way. (I have been told that they will try their best not to seperate families even if they do not pay.) We did not pay and sat together both times. If you know you are going to check any luggage go ahead & pay for it at time of booking. If not the charge can be quite higher.

We are flying them again in Dec, flying into Sanford this time. We are paying a total of $385.00 r/t. Delta for the same time r/t was $1100.00. Even with a rental car ($250.00) we are saving appx $450.00. Please run the numbers to see if it is a good deal for your family since you have to rent a car (NO DME), for our family it was a significant savings.

Granted they do not have multiple flights per day, but if you can make the days work, I would recommend them. The great thing is they fly into smaller airports so it can be easier getting around for a family, a lot less stressful than MCO.
