Do you get any better rate if you actually go to the ticket counter at the airport to purchase tickets? It seems like I remember someone mentioning that they had gotten a discount for going to the airport and booking directly, but I can't remember the details.

I believe you do not get charged for the booking fee(s) if you do so at the counter. You will still incur the difference if paying by debit/credit:

Electronic Carrier Usage Charge (per person, per segment) Fares displayed are inclusive of an electronic usage charge of $10 per passenger, per segment, applicable to all airline reservations booked through the Web site or call center.$10.00 Call Center Booking Fee (per person, per segment) Customers that purchase travel through the Allegiant call center will be charged a call center booking fee.$14.99

Thanks! So for 3 people, I would save $60?

When I bought tickets a few years back through them, I went to the airport and saved a little. You do have to go when they are open. Our Allegiant only flies out on Thurs and Sun and they are only there for a few hours just to get the folks checked in and on the flight…so make sure you find out if they will be there before you go.

Yeah, this is one of the ways Allegiant is very sneaky with their fares. The fares you see on their website are buy at the counter fares. While almost everyone else has their best rates online and charges extra for other methods (mostly phone), Allegiant makes their cheapest rates at the counter. Of course, at many airports it just isn't worth it to do that because of parking, etc. And the poster quoted above is correct: at least at Allentown, the counter simply isn't open much, making it almost impossible to buy tickets that way.

Sounds right.. I saved $20 the last time we flew but that was August 2013.. Like others said please call ahead to see when the ticket counters are open.. Normally an hour before a schedule flight and close at flight time.. SO if they only fly once a day....
I am sad because Alliegant is leaving our area next week.. Peopleexpress startiung flying out of Newport News but they only go to Ft. Lauderdale and St. Petersburg

Thanks, guys! I actually knew this about the counter not being open except for right when flights are scheduled. On a side note, how does the airline get people to work for so few hours?

Allegiant ticket counters are open for one hour after a plane's departure. You cannot purchase tickets until the plane leaves. The same agents that sell tickets also check in passengers and baggage, they are busy doing that prior to a plane leaving. If you call Allegiant they will give you the hours at the airport closest to you. I drove to the airport about an hour prior to a plane leaving and the ticket counter refused to sell tickets until after the plane had left. I had to go back after the plane left. I did save $20 on the roundtrip ticket by going to the airport to buy the ticket.

People Express is back??? There's a blast from the past...

I guess they're starting out very small. Even their intro fares aren't that great. I remember back in the day flying People Express from Newark to Greensboro for $19 or $29. I forget if you could even make reservations, but you paid onboard. Instead of rolling drinks up the aisle, they'd roll a pay station and swipe your credit card for the fare. One time the flight never showed up on my CC bill. Like many smaller airlines, they tried growing too much too quickly and that was the end of that.

Sorry for the hijack...back to Allegiant.
