They are tempting me to go to WDW Memorial Day weekend plus a few days. They have fares from ABE for $39.99 each way right now! I went through the whole process and with fees, it would costs a mere $376.14 for my family of 3 to fly down. If I had AP's this year, I would have already booked! I'm still deciding, but I thought I'd better share this deal with my fellow Budget Boarders in case anyone else is looking for an airfare deal!

I wish they'd have some $19.99 fares..then maybe I could talk dh into a quick trip for the 5 of us!

OH THANKS! Maybe we're flying now!

Just be forewarned that Allegiant is cheap for a reason...another dis'er recently flew Allegiant out of LVIA/ABE and called it ghetto air!

We just got back from a trip from Toledo (we live in the Detroit area) to Orlando on Allegiant and it was great. It was nice to fly in and out of smaller airports and not have to deal with the craziness of Metro in Detroit or MCO. If you are planning to rent a car anyways, flying into Sanford is no big deal. We did not stay in the Orlando area but it is the closest airport to where we were going.

This is the 2nd time we have flown on Allegiant and we have not had any problems either time. As long as you realize that they charge you for everything including drinks on the plane, it's no big deal. Our plane was in very good shape both ways and the staff were very nice. We arrived 1/2 hour early going each way and we left on time both legs. No complaints here.

I have flown Allegiant from ABE a number of times. It is budget, but I'm not sure why anyone would call it "ghetto". They got me and my family to Florida and back safely and on time. That's pretty much all I ask of an airline these days!

From TaraPA
"We weren't impressed with Allegiant for anything other than price, and like they say, you get what you pay for!

It was really just the staff we weren't impressed with. They were very unprofessional in my opinion. Boarding was a nightmare - they didn't enforce people boarding by zones - when they called the 1st boarding zone hordes of people in all zones rushed the gate, I guess in hopes of stashing their carry-ons so they wouldn't have to pay to check them. I would have been livid had I paid for preferred boarding & had to wait in a huge line of people that had not paid for it, but were getting on board before me. They were gate-checking carry-ons til we got on, the overheads were full.

Boarding info was slim to none - we had a delay (NOT Allegiant's fault) that started at 30 min. & progressed to over 2 hours - 1st there was a medical emergency on the incoming flight that they had to take care of, then there was ice that delayed us. No information was announced, and I guess they really don't have to announce anything, but no one knew what was going on & there was no one even at the gate area to check with. I found that frustrating considering it was an evening flight. It was just myself & 2 DSs, and we just waited....and waited....and waited....with no updates from Allegiant as to what was going on, or when we would depart.

Once on board the staff was indifferent, no welcomes, smiles or thank you's for anything. One of our seats was occupied & they wouldn't move when I showed them our boarding passes with that seat number. I kindly asked the FA to double check the boarding pass for me & she shrugged & said "whoever is right gets the seat" and walked away.

Once we landed in MCO (at 12:15am!) they blasted the song "Move It" through the loud speaker system, and an FA came on & said "come on people, we want to get out of here too, let's go." I thought that was rude. That was the only communication the entire flight. We never saw a FA the whole time either (there are no snacks on Allegiant).

Would I fly them again for the cheap price? Yes. We got the seats for $39.99 one way (about $60 each with taxes) so it was a good deal. I guess I just had my expectations set too high on the quality of their staff!"

Her comments are alos in another thread or 2...trying to find the one with the ghetto air rev.

I know many people who have flown Allegiant out of Bangor Maine and have been VERY happy! It's a straight shot- no layovers and your luggage gets on the same plane you do and stays there! LOL Believe me, if my Mother were unhappy, I would know it!:rotfl:

I have used this airline 1 time. I had no problems, but for me I want to go right into Orlando Intl. So maybe one day they will add the Roanoke, VA into that aiport.

Soooo tempting. If only the flight from MCO - ABE didn't depart at 7:50 am :scared1:

Sorry, but if someone is bummed out by the lack of pillows or blankets, I take their opinion with a grain of salt.

I'm not sure why you are pushing so hard to make people hate Allegiant.
I'm not pushing hard to make other hate Allegiant! If I could get a flight on them for under $30 pp each way I'd fly them in a heartbeat.
I just want people to realize that it is probably not worth it for people to fly them if they are paying over $90 or so pp to fly them..there are other airlines!
Just trying to show both sides of the story!

Yeah, that's a killer, but we took it last year and we survived. Totally worth it for $39.99! :) And I probably paid $79.99 for that flight last year!

I flew Allegiant a few times last summer to visit my daughter while she working at Disney World on the College Program. I flew out of Greensboro, NC into Sanford with very few problems, and I paid less than $55 each way. It was certainly "no-frills", but I found the staff to be nice...not Disney castmember nice, but nice enough. There were a number of rude people on each flight that carried on more than the allowed 2 bags, and pushed ahead of everyone in line to put said bags in the overhead compartments. By the time I got on, there was nowhere to put my small bag. I felt sorry for the family behind me who had 2 young children and several carery-ons. I didn't feel so sorry for them after I listened to the youngest child wail for 2 hours, though. The flight attendant did ask the parents if there was anything she could do to help; she should have asked us passengers. The staff was a little more "relaxed" than most flight attendants, but I would not have called them rude. Some passengers, though, were definitely rude, and the staff did nothing to enforce the rules. Allegiant reminds me a little of Southwest in the early days, before the TV show and the increase in prices.

We flew with alligent air from Knoxville TN down to Sanford, and it was a clean, nice, quiet flight. We were only in the air for an hour or so and it was very nice.

OH and FYI all living in or near tri cities air port in Blountville TN, Allegiant air now flies from TRI to MCO!!!!!!

This KILLS me to read. I could so easily get to Allentown for the cheap flights. I have tickets covered. I'd have a place to stay for free through relatives. I'd either have a free borrowed car or a cheap local rental. No parking fees. The most budget trip EVER if we could go.... but wife is now in 3rd trimester and unable to fly. Then a summer baby with a c-section for the wife .... no way we can go!! Boo-hoo!!!

5 month old babies travel easily...plan it for when your baby is around that age!;)

Thanks for the heads up on these prices! We have always flown Southwest out of Philly, but we have considered using ABE since it is close and a far easier drive...if I could just get the price to beat Southwest.

Our next trip is an anniversary cruise for dh and I out of PC, and I have been on the hunt for cheap airfare. So far rates in August seem hight to me (over $200 round trip p/p...I did not even pay that in December at Christmas week!).

I will now add Allegiant into the my search mix...here is hoping the August rates drop!
