Anyone have any experience flying with Allegiant... specifically out of Allentown, PA. They have a decent price for an upcoming trip... we would be flying into Sanford vs MCO. We usually fly Frontier, Southwest, or American. Frontier prices are insane at the moment and Southwest stopped flying direct.

DS and his family just returned from an XNA-TPA trip to WDW. They had a great experience with Allegiant.

They also took advantage of free bags and early boarding as Veterans, in case that applies to you.

We flew from Asheville to Sanford via Allegiant in February. It was a great experience! It was a bit more $ for ground transportation on the Orlando side, but the security lines at Sanford were non-existent, and all of the gates were right next to security, so the lack of stress on the return trip was 👍.

Our past 3 trips we have flown Allegiant direct from Asheville NC, most recently in March 2022. Haven't had any problems and love the smaller airports. My husband flew American Airlines last week for a work conference at Universal. His connecting flight to Charlotte NC was canceled just as he was going to airport. He had to miss the first day of conference and fly out the next morning. He ended up having to go from TN to Dallas Texas before landing at MCO. He left home at 5am and got to the hotel at 5:30 pm. I much prefer the smaller direct flights.

Make sure you figure all their add on charges that are included with other airlines
Make sure you include added transportation costs too and from Sanford
Make sure you have plans of your flight is canceled. It may mean a 2 day delay since they don’t have daily flights

They are an airline when things go well it’s fine but if they done it’s very bad. There is not an in between

Agree with Mrs.AMC on all points. Allegiant hasn't stranded me yet, but Frontier has. Make sure you have a backup plan. If you need to get home on a certain date, be willing to fly somewhere close and figure out how to get back to Allentown from there.

I've flown Allentown-Sanford many times on Allegiant. Flying that route again in 11 days. Fingers crossed, by haven't had a major problem yet. Multiple times they have switched out the aircraft types resulting in seating layout changes and me losing my Legroom+ seats.

Allentown is a nice, small airport to fly out of. Close parking, security usually quick. Sanford is easy in/out as well. We usually rent a car when flying into Sanford. If using Avis/Budget they do not have a go direct to your car option there. So I usually head straight to the counter after getting off the plane while the rest of the family goes for luggage (when we check bags) and the restrooms. I also hate I4, and and take 417 (toll) the "long" way all the way to Word Center or Osceola.

It's been a while since we've flown Allegiant but they're at 4 airports within driving distance (Louisville, Cincinnati, Lexington plus Owensboro) so it's not too difficult to find a flight that works. We haven't flown them into Sanford but into St. Pete/Clearwater (one of the smallest airports I've ever seen) as well as Vegas.

They've been fine but the seats are small and not much legroom. That's saying something considering I'm only 5'1". So if you're traveling with taller/larger people, make sure you take comfort into consideration. My 6'3" stocky son would be super uncomfortable in an Allegiant seat. I'd have to spring for the Legroom seats.

Also check your personal item/carryon sizes as they are smaller than the legacy airlines. The luggage weight limit is also less. 40 pounds vs 50 pounds on many other airlines. They'll charge you an overweight bag fee.
