I admit it, I am a snooper from way back. I always wanted to know what I was getting for my b-day and Christmas. I learned many techniques. I used the squeeze and shake method. I also tried the untape and peek technique. I have been good in recent years though and have been happily suprised come Christmas. However, I must confess that I was bad this year. :rolleyes1 I was at my parents house watching their dog while they were away last weekend and I wandered into the guest room. It was Christmas central! I had to do it, I only actually peeked at one DVD but I was shaking and squeezing all over the place. :teeth:

It feels so good to get that off my chest. Now please don't tell! :rolleyes2

You are not alone, one year as a teenager I unwrapped ALL of my gifts by slicing the tape with a razorblade and re-wrapping the gift just as it was. I had a tough time pretending I was surprised and did later confess to my mom. It's okay though, because I now have a baby girl (and 3 year old son too)and she (and he) will one day do the same, it's the mothers curse!

Last year, I was checking my parent's e-mail to see if my American Eagle order had been shipped yet, and in there, there was a brand new Dell being shipped to my grandparents house. I just had to tell, and my mom told me that dad ordered it for my uncle to give to my aunt, but I had one under the tree ;)

I've been known to peek a time or two!:teeth: When my sister and I were young we snuck into our parents bedroom and found all of our presents already wrapped. We each picked one, and then had each other unwrap it to see what was inside. We figured if one of us was questioned about peeking we could honestly say we hadn't. (At our own at least!)
Then last year, DH had bought my Valentine's Day present at the store where I work. He gave me a pair of earrings on Valentine's Day and asked me if I wanted my Anniversary present too. (10th anniv. on 2/19) I said no I would wait...yeah until the next day when I went to work and searched through the journal roll of that day's transactions until I found that he had bought me the matching necklace! (He never found out that I peeked, and I don't plan on telling him either. :goodvibes

I'm a horrible snooper. It's killing me not to look in my husband's closet. I heard him rustling in there the other morning when he thought I was asleep.

I can't resist a wrapped present, especially if my name is on it!

During Christmas I always snooped. I never found any presents, my mom was good at hiding stuff. I wish I could have found my Christmas presents because she got me some wacky presents. She did manage to get one thing I really liked, chocolate and lots of it. I always found the chocolate before Christmas, so I ate it.

Thats ME now I just go get what I want and nobody has to worry about what to get me.
When I was 8 I finally got caught doing the open rewrapping thing (darn puppet stuffed animal thing)Mom said thats alright you'll be disapointed when not surprised on X-mas.

I said I don't think so I liked everything you got me .

I used to be a snooper--we (The kids) had a rule though...it was only for gifts that came from out of the house (parents divorced--so gifts from the parent who wasn't there as well as from grandparents and such). We didn't seek out presents from our parents or Santa. We continued this until college and then maturity took over and we quit :(. I miss the good ol' days!

Unrelated to Christmas--but I have gotten burned badly by accidently finding out something that was meant to be a surprise. So I would never ever consider snooping on purpose after that. Though I do give lots of hints to hubby on what I hope to receive for Christmas ;).

I'm a total snooper! I let everyone know that if they give us our presents before Christmas (if they send them from out of town or drop them off at our house) I will open them. I just can't stand knowing there's a present under the tree & not knowing what it is. The worst part is I open everyone's-my kids' and DH's. Then I wrap them back up and no one knows.

Odddly enough, I can never remember what I buy for my kids every year (I usually buy their stuff earlier in the year) so when they open them up, I'm surprised at what I bought for them. And I don't open those and re-wrap them like I do the ones other people give them.

Needless to say, most people don't give me our gifts until they actually want me to open them-either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.

Glad to see I'm not alone! I also noticed that thanks to the Tag Fairy, I won't be able to hide my shame!

Thanks Tag Fairy!

Congrats on the tag!

I also have to admit... I was the worst snooper EVER! When I'd get home from school I'd go on missions to find gifts although mom got uncreative after a while and it lost it's rule-breaking appeal

Another problem my mom had was that she was a last-minute wrapper. Everything I found was unwrapped.

One Christmas it paid off. There was a doll bed set I had wanted really bad and I FOUND it in the back office closet... well Christmas comes and no doll bed :confused3 I agonized over what to say and how to say it... and so, being sneaky little girl I was (duh, I'm a snooper!) I asked my mom if there was anything she hadn't gotten but wanted that Christmas :rolleyes1 She says no and asks me the same question (Snap! she falls right into my trap!) and I mentioned the doll set. She then says "Oh wait!" and runs to the office all excited and gives it to me.

I have not told her to this day (I'm 23) that I was a snooper. I wouldn't want to ruin her memories of my (usually faked) surprise on xmas morning!! I'm not THAT bad of a daughter! princess:

I remember once when I was 8 or 9 and I was checking out the presents under the tree and one had extremely thin paper. I was able to press it down tightly and see what my present was (a Knit Magic) and I will forever be traumatized by the guilt and shame. Plus, it was a major bummer to have to open it and look surprised and excited. Now I'm a dedicated stickler for no peeking. :)

i am an amazing snooper, or was... lol. me and my sis would cute along the tape look, then tape right back over where it was. genius, i know.
but then a couple of years ago we got smart and started looking at the receipts. i mean, my dad keeps all of the credit card receipts in a folder marked "december" how can i NOT look in there? lol

I run hot and cold. Some years it's all I can do to stop with shaking the gifts a little under the tree and other years I'm just too busy to care if there's a present with my name on it. This year I'm feeling sneeky, lol.

I shake but usually just wait..I love opening all those and being suprised. :D

I'm a snooper. I can't help it! I hate surprises. :rotfl2:

Ok ok I admit it! Yesterday my girls went to the Gingerbread shop at school to shop for family members for Christmas. Just a few minutes ago I peeked. I was laughing my rear off the whole time seeing what their 6 year and 4 year old minds picked out all by themselves! My grandma will be getting not ONE but TWO grandma pens, LMAO!!!
