We have been to WDW many times in the fall. It is a very nice time of the year (very warm), but we now want to try May for 2005. What weeks are best and how are the crowds? I am assuming the weather is hot. I love to hear from any May experts!! Thank you..

We went last year at the beginning of May and it was "hotter than normal" (according to the CMs) mid-90's. The crowds were minimal, and that's why we're going again this year. Also, it never rained.

We always go around the first week of May. Everything is open, but the crowds are not bad at all. We probably only have an average wait of 10 minutes on the more popular rides, and usually walk onto most.

Only 11 days left for me!!!:bounce:

We went in early May a couple of years ago and it was WONDERFUL. Beautiful weather, low crowds, and very minimal wait times. :sunny:

We went Memorial week last year, the last week of May. We found the crowds minimal, and some places almost deserted (early in the morning). It was hot, but I expected it to be, It was not unbearable by any means. But this year we are going first week of May, before school gets out, just to see the difference in weather and crowds. Just to try something different, I think we will always go in May though.

Have a nice time

We used to go either mid-Sept or early Dec but switched last year to end of May (dd has too many AP classes). We didn't think it was very crowded and it was alot less hot than Sept. Humidity was lower also. We are returning on May 28 for 9 nights. Anytime you can go that is value season you have a better chance of light crowds and lower room rates.

6 May trips under my belt, most of them the first two weeks of the month. The crowds are easy to deal with. If you want to avoid any crowds, don't go to the parks on their designated early entry day. I have never had any crowding issues at Epcot except for Test Track. I assume Mission Space will be crowded most of the day. The Studios is easy if you go first thing in the morning and do Tower of Terror and RnR and the Little Mermaid. The rest is a breeze. The Animal Kingdom is fine. You can spend a liesurly day there and see most everything. The Magic Kingdom has been the most succeptable to crowding. It gets pretty busy on early entry day and is crowded on Saturdays. If the Fireworkds and Spectro Magic Parade are only showing on Saturday or the week end it will be crazy and get worse as the day goes on.
The weather has always been warm. A couple trips it was in the 90's every day. A couple trips veried from the low 80's to low 90's and a couple trips there were days in the high 70's to the high 80's. There has been little rain. But when it does rain it sure rains hard! Only once in the 6 trips did it really stop us from doing much and that was fro half an hour.

May is a great time to go. But don't say it too loud...I don't want to attract too many crowds:tongue:

Weather is usually in the mid to high 80's...if it does rain..they are brief storms in the afternoon---you can definately still enjoy your trip.

So, glad to hear all of this--we're leaving in 2 weeks and we are so excited!!:bounce: The company I work for has a branch in Orlando, one of the guys there said that the parks have been so crowded the past couple of weeks, they've all been closing early due to high capacity. Hopefully that was all the spring break crowds and things will be back to normal soon!! :hyper:

DW and I often go in May -- usually after Mother's Day. Crowds are very manageable -- last year we noted a lot of FastPasses were closed because they weren't needed. About the only crowds we encountered were at the park opening ... after that everyone dispersed.

It's great to go during the Epcot Flower and Garden Show (it's great!). The weather is usually warm -- nice for swimming. Last year was HOT! Thank goodness for A/C!

I'm so happy to hear that May is a good month. We will be there May 9-18. I can't wait!!!!!

I'm glad to hear all the positive responses about May. We will be there May 15-22 and it's our first time with our 2 kids. We can't wait and are hoping for nice weather and minimal crowds.:sunny:

We go alot in May too. The first 2 weeks are less crowded than the last 2 weeks. I believe some of the Florida schools let out for the summer the Friday before Memorial Day. They also go back to school before the end of August, 3rd week I think. Last year we went down Memorial Day, not a good plan on my part since I was spoiled with lower crowds earlier in May and then on our October trips there isn't much of crowds either. The weather is really nice in May, low rain, low humidity, lots of nice warm sun!!! :sunny: I can't wait to go. It's still too cold for me here! :sad2:

Disney is awesome in May, you'll love it!!

You all are getting me even more excited for our next trip! Glad to hear the good news about May crowds & hot hot hot weather (which we love)

May rocks - we were there in the heat as well last year, but it didn't stop us from having fun... we just rode Splash Mountain and Khali River Rapids more than once!!:happy2:

Hey Angbuz,

We are in the same boat as you! We arrive on the 15th at POFQ for our first Disney trip with the kids.:thewave:

I'm so excited to see their reactions. My kids are 5 and 3. How old are yours?

We love going in May because:
1) Low crowds. I've been there 5 times in May and all the times the crowds were very manageable.
2) Flower and Garden Festival. You will never see Epcot looking more beautiful!:flower1:
3) Weather. Sunny, warm and little to no rain. Perfect, IMHO!!!:sunny:

I will be there soon (staying at POFQ and YC) and will give a full report when I get back!!!!:cloud9:

Hi,

Always seem to go in May. Crowds aren't bad & the weather is comfortable.

We have gone to WDW in May for the last 2 years and are going back in 14 days! We usually go in May to celebrate our anniversary and DH's birthday and have always found it to be a great month to visit. It can get very hot, so I would suggest buying a spray fan to bring along. You can buy them at WDW for around $16. We bought ours at Wal*Mart for 1/2 the cost. Just ask the CMs who sell drinks at the stands for some ice and they will be happy to oblige. Afternoon thunderstorms are common, but usually only last an hour or so. This allows you to take a nice relaxing and much needed break. The crowds have never been too bad. The fast loading attractions generally have no waiting. We have seen some of the more popular attractions with waits of 45+ minutes, but we don't like to wait more than 30 minutes, so we always use FastPass. Other advantages of going in May are the Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot and Star Wars Weekends at Disney Studios. You will have a great time!
