...to vote in all the weekly photo contests. :surfweb: But I do enjoy that kind of difficulty. ::yes:: So many great pictures, every week, and only one picture per thread to pick. :scratchin :headache: :confused3 Lots of talent here. :thumbsup2 Thanks everyone, for posting such great pictures, and again, thanks to Dana, for all the time and effort you put into the weekly photo contests. :woohoo:

I'll second that.:thumbsup2 I almost never vote for myself becasue I find other photos that are so much better:lmao:

Yep, just about every week I think "I wish we could vote for our favorite TWO" because that would make it much easier. But like ColleenS said, I never vote for myself, so that eliminates one photo.

I can't wait until our trip in June with my new S3 (I guess it's not new any more since I got it back in Sept, huh?) - I'm going to have sooooo many pictures. Look out photography board!:)

I agree, so many great photos, it's hard to choose one. And thanks to those who make it possible.

Just curious how you vote - what criteria you use, I suppose everyone has their own way. Do you vote for best composition; sharpest & clearest; which best reminds you of the topic, etc?

I think for me, sometimes it's a combination of those things but alot of times it's what brings back those great memories of past trips.

I pick the one that most "speaks" to me and that I'm most drawn to.

I usually look at the subject matter and composition first but use proper exposure and technical stuff like that when I have to decide between a few.

I agree! I'm new to this board, and my pics are not as great as most of yours. But I like looking at pictures as well as having a contest to enter some of mine in. It gives me more to strive for & makes me want to try different techniques that I see on here.:thumbsup2

I'll echo that!! The fundamentals of good photography are true no matter the subject.

I agree completely. I have never had so much problem deciding on a winner- and I am talking about on every single page. Nice work everyone. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

i agree as well although usually i have a few favorites and they usually are on the same poll which i hate and makes me wish i could switch them to a poll that doesn't have one i love on it...

on deciding...
1) i never look at the names so i'm not swayed 2) i look for the one i think suits the theme best 3) i look for the one that is good from a tech stand point imo ie focus, comp. lighting etc 4) i look for something original about the subject, angle, lighting etc 5) and since i think they are supposed to be mostly unedited( except cropping and basic stuff), i rule out any fancy smancy stuff like selective coloring etc..all this for a disney online poll ...just think if i were judging something with a $$$$ prize:rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

and since i only have about 12 disney photos i never have to worry about not voting for my own since i never enter

Yep I agree some fantastic shots on the competition threads. It never occurred to me to vote for myself though - too many better pics anyway!

Its interesting to hear what people look for in a photo. I dont really "know" anyone here yet (Im from the UK DIS community mainly) so names mean nothing (not that Id ever pick a photo based on names anyway). I just pick the photo that stands out - it might be colour, composition, uniqueness - nothing specific, just what I think is a good picture.

There have been some stunners in recent weeks and Ive found it really hard to choose - its a lot of fun though, so THANKS to Dana for organising it.

Awww.... you guys are so sweet! I really enjoy running the contests, but I have to admit part of it is done for a selfish reason. Looking at all of the other great pics that have been entered over the past year I have gotten some really great ideas and some great advice. I have been able to take better pictures as time goes by. As far as which photo I vote for. It truly is the one that jumps out of the page at me. The one that I look at and just say WOW.

Dana

TU Dana for all your work each week.
I look forward to seeing everyones perspective on each topic. Gives me inspiration to get out there and take better pics.

I vote for the one that pops out at me and says What a great shot:banana: and there have been many many great shots:cool1:

This is one of my reasons for spending so much time here as well, plus the fact that the folks that frequent this board are some of the nicest people around!

Great Job!! Keep up the good work!!:thumbsup2 :cool1:

I vote for whichever picture the little voices in my head tell me to.

It's funny, we went to Disneyland 3 weeks ago and I found myself looking at the parks differently as I remembered some of the photos posted on the board. It made me look at subjects from a different perspective.
