Can this be true? I knew that it was busy that week but I can't believe that every single room in all of the value and moderates is full. Does this happen every year?

I usually plan about a year in advance but had a last minute idea for a surprise holiday trip. I had no idea that when they said it was busy they meant that no rooms were available.

Is there a chance that people are hoarding reservations for that holiday week and will cancel between now and then? Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Thanks,

Sher

Not surprising at all. A couple days before Christmas to New Years is packed. We booked our vacation to check in on Xmas day one year and about 3 months prior we checked about staying somewhere else and EVERY place was full. Seriously.

Same problem...guess that's what I get for waiting huh? :confused3
No seriously, I can't find anything for our family of 7 from December to February...very frustrating. Just keep trying. Last year I did the same thing and ended up having no problem booking Pop the DAY I was getting on the train with DS to go! :earseek: I plan to call Disney this week and shed a few tears :guilty:
I really did not expect such a problem considering I had 2 MONTHS to work with rather than just ONE weekend this year!

The attendance for the week between Christmas and New Years was described in one of my guidebooks as "Nightmare on Main Street". This is truely the busyest time of the year to vist WDW.

I made my ressies back in June :cool1: :cool1:

2 rooms at Pop Century December 25 january 1

OMG I didnt know its gonna be verY very crowded that christmas week.

Not a surprise I'm afraid. Folks start arriving on the 26th and by New Years it's packed. Can you arrive the 23rd or 24th? You might find availability if you can arrive then. Usually things are much quieter the 23rd and 24th.

Even though they are booked you might be able to get a reservation thru some travel agencies that block rooms. I got a room thru AAA about a month ago at POP after the DW was showing them as booked. I ended up paying about $10 more per night which I didn't realize at the time, but if you know that going into it, you might luck out. Doesn't hurt to check it out. If you don't have AAA try some of the other on-line travel agencies.

Also, you might want to check Travelocity or another of those sites that sell the Disney resorts. I had to add the 31st after booking Jan1-6th because of block out dates on my flights and was told everything was booked for the values and only one opening at the moderates. However, I booked the ASMO through Travelocity for that one night. It was a few weeks ago though. Good luck!

Its not the best way, but you could stay off-site....... :confused3

Its better then not going at all!

But on my personnal opinion, I wouldn't want to be at Disney on Dec 25th, it must be really CRAZY!!!!!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I was able to book a room through hotels.com about an hour and a halh ago at Coranado Springs for 12/27 - 12/30. So there is still hope!

It's weird. Yesterday when I checked on-line, there were rooms available at all of the moderates and values. (I was thinking about extending my trip over Christmas and just wanted to see what was available towards the end of Christmas week.) Today, only CSR is coming up. Given my past experiences, I would encourage you to continue to call periodically. We've made many last minute trips and have always been able to eventually book exactly what we wanted.

Take the date that you want to arrive at WDW -- ie the 26th of December. Then count back 45 days. For the 26th, that would take you back to November 10th. Disney reservations get cancelled if not paid in full by 45 days prior to the date of arrival. People can cancel 46 days out with no penalty. So, pick up the phone and call several times each day starting with the moment the phone lines open up each morning. I'd start on the 8th and continue for five days or so. With tens of thousands of rooms, somebody will be cancelling, or forget to pay in full by the due date (AGHAST!). There will be space-- you just have to be diligent! Good luck!
