OK, I'm bored. I'm eating lunch and listening to This American Life when this phrase came up.

"So-and-so is all up in my kool-aid and doesn't even know the flavor."

I love this phrase. It's ridiculous.

Have you heard this before? If not, can you guess what it means?

Yes, I've heard it. Its pretty old, but I admit to loving it too.

Ok, I admit, I like that one :thumbsup2

I have always heard it as "drinking the kool-aid." As in you really like something or really buy into something (ex. we drink the Disney kool-aid).

"All up in my kool-aid" is different; it refers to being a busybody.

As for "drinking the Kool-Aid", the actual drink used in Jonestown was Flavor Aid. 909 people died from drinking the poisoned concoction, including 294 children. That doesn't count the 5 people that were shot at an airstrip nearby, including Congressman Leo Ryan.

Thanks. I knew there was a real origin to the saying but didn't know the details of where it came from.

Knowing that now, I much prefer the busybody version ;)

The thread title is awesome.

It's the dignified version :snooty:

Those memes where they take current sayings and put them onto old time photos and language makes me laugh. There has to be one for this. Has to be.

ETA: Found it

I know, I use it, not regularly but sometimes. :)

That is why I hate the phrase "drinking the kool aid". It waaaaay trivializes a horrific event. Same goes for those Titanic kiddy inflatable slides at carnivals. How long will it be before we see a World Trade Center bungee jumping inflatable???

Sorry for the rant!!!!

To the OP, never heard the phrase you mentioned, but it's hilarious! :rotfl:

#2 just might have to make its way into my vocabulary! Love it!

I've heard 1 and 3 before - and not on the DIS believe it or not.

Never heard #2. Going to start using that one.
