I have been anxious to go back to WDW since our last trip. I've been obsessively reading trip reports and posts here and hotel reviews on tripadvisor. :disrocks: I stayed at POR (Dixie Landings) many times growing up and took DH and DS (was 2) there 2 years ago (never had a bad experience). I've always wanted to try a Deluxe Resort and have been trying to decide between WL or AKL (Poly sounds great but would break the bank). BUT, I keep reading over and over again about people having terrible experiences with dirty rooms and there are just so many that I'm starting to wonder if we should go at all. This will be DD's first trip (she'll be 2 princess: ) and I've been waiting to bring her since she was born so I want it to be perfect. DH is not a big Disney fan and it has taken a lot of convincing to get him to go and if we go and have a bad experience he'll never want to go again!

I guess I'm just wondering what your take is on all this...

I'm one to become anxious when reading negative reports, too.

Last year, there were so many reports of all kinds of awful things at the resorts and in the parks, I was almost a basket case.

Then I went...and everything went just right!

None of the horror stories - even ones I'd heard many times from many different people - occurred.

That's when a wise DISer said, "People who have problems post about them. People who don't, don't."

So I keep that in mind now, and I don't get nearly as anxious. Sure, something can always go wrong, but if most people were coming away from Disney with a bad experience, WDW would go out of business pretty quickly. So most people are having a great time there, and having no problems. We just don't hear about it on here. ;)

I had problems for the very first time on my last trip at The Polynesian. Prior to that, I've stayed numerous times at POR, and WL and never had any issues whatsoever.

If you look at my ticker, you'll see where we're staying next December. It had that much of an impact on me.

I found that even when we did have mousekeeping come in, within two minutes of us returning to the room, it was messed up again. It took us all of five minutes in the morning to make both beds. It really wasn't that big of a deal, and chances are, you aren't going to have any issues anyway - and I probably won't the next time either.

And if you do - look at it this way - take the tip that you would have left for mousekeeping and leave it for the bartender instead.

I haven't been in 5 years, but we went every other year before that, and I've never had a mousekeeping issue. If you do, speak up kindly and patiently, and I'm sure you'll be taken care of.

Don't worry...be happy!!!
