We all know that the Disney Resorts are a special place to spend time with your family and remember what its like to be a kid...but what is it about Disneyland itself that seems to make so special for everyone who visits? (just a musing I thought I would throw out to see what everyone says.)

Everything! Just about anyone, no matter your age, can find something they like at Disneyland.

For me, personally, it's the feeling. Brings back great childhood memories and makes me look forward to all the new ones I'll create with my own little family. Can't wait!!

One place that consistently generates wonderful, happy memories that are linked to friend and family. It is hard to top that!

I think it's because Disneyland is the only park in the world built by Walt Disney himself. His personal touch is found in the details of so many areas in that park.

I agree with Sleepless. And I don't know why but when I first walk in, I feel a sense of "ahhhhhh" come over me. It doesn't always last the whole trip but that first sense of walking in always makes me happy.

The music!

I get excited whenever I hear the music from the park. I was on hold the other day with reservations, and my head was spinning from the music. When the music changes I know exactly where in the park it comes from and I start thinking about that part of the park.

There's a funny story about Disneyland that helps illustrate why it's so amazing. When Walt decided he wanted to build Disneyland, he decided to go to a convention of amusement park owners to find out what he could learn. When he told some of them his idea, they said he was nuts and that Disneyland would be a failure. When Walt heard that, he knew that Disneyland would be a huge success. He always seemed to know what people were looking for. I know it's :offtopic: , but I wonder what EPCOT would have ended up like if Walt had lived longer. He was going to give EPCOT the attention he gave Disneyland.

Disneyland is the most special of all of the Disney resorts to me because Walt worked there, had an office there, walked those very streets, and put those special touches on the finished product.

Since I've never been to any other Disney resort, I can't compare, but what makes DL special for me is that when we are there, all the normal cares & concerns of everyday melt away.

We are there to have FUN and nothing else. We get to enjoy each others company and just be plain silly and laugh and just enjoy our family.

Even though at the end of the day we are tired and can get kind of grumpy, you just look around and see where you are and it makes it seem easier to deal with.

It really is a special place!

For me and my DH as the time get's closer to our trip to Disneyland we start playing the CD's of disney music. When we get there we are both so giddy and it's like Tinkerbell just sprinkled pixie dust on to make us have more energy and feel like kids again. Disneyland has that special atmosphere that I can't even explain it just makes us feel warm and fuzzy inside. You instantly have a wonderful smile on your face when you walk under the bridge at Disneyland. And it doesn't go away until you have to leave and we leave with such wonderful memories.

Simply, it's Walt's Park. It's the vision that he had, made real. It's his "work of heart." And I remember that every time I walk in the gates.

It's so many things: Walt was there, the details on each building and attraction, the intimate size and how close the rides are to give it such a wonderful aura, the quantity of rides in such a small place, main street (preserved unlike DW), the list goes on....

Some of my earliest childhood memories (I must have been 3 or 4) are of trips to Disneyland. Of course it was a lot different in those days....ticket books - huge lines for rides (sometimes we could only go on 4 or 5 rides in a day). The best part, for me is that you can enter Disneyland, and the rest of the world slips away. You don't have to worry about jobs, or bills or other stressors. How many places can you go where you only need to be concerned with doing what makes you happy. Disneyland allows you to let go and free your inner child and who doesn't need the chance to be carefree and happy!

Have you ever looked around at the big grins on peoples faces? Where else could you go and see adults wearing mouse ears, or hats that look like goofy etc. None of these exist in the outside world, but at Disneyland we are not afraid to put ourselves out there and be vulnerable.

Disneyland is Magic!!

DL is the only place I skip and dance in public. :)

Me Too! When I enter Disneyland I feel like I've come home. I get all wiggly and happy inside. It's a feeling I don't experience anywhere else I go. I feel blessed that I can truly feel the magic that Walt placed there over 50 years ago, and I feel sorry for those that don't.

I love DL. My parents were engaged there in 1957 and I went there for the first time at 6 months old in 1959! And go back every 2 years or so.

It is a family memory, something I can not describe, even my husband does not get it, but my 13 year old son does!

I'm planning a quick trip in November, a 4 day weekend of Parent Teacher Conferences so I can get away from school!
