All Stars Sports??

We just stayed there and they were putting new mattresses and painting all the doors in all the rooms. It didn't seem like it really needed refurbished to me.

anyone know if the Surf building is being refurnished and when?

Hi!I think you should reconsider staying at Disney's All-Star Sports Resort-it is a VERY poor resort choice. It is SO bad that my upcoming trip in December will only be my eighth stay there!;) :) I last stayed there August 11-18.The only section that had been refurbished then was Home Run Hotel. It was SO nice-EVERYTHING was new.:) While I was there they were working on Touchdown! Building #7.I understand they have completed that building and are now working on Surf's Up! Building #6.I understand it takes about a month to refurbish one building and they are scheduled to finish refurbishing the entire resort by the end of February 2008.I usually stay in Surf's Up!,but this past trip I requested Home Run Hotel so I would have a refurbished room.I really enjoyed this section because it close to both All-Star Sports' and All-Star Music's bus stops and pools.I also saved about $100.00 since Surf's Up! is the preferred section.:) Walt Disney World in December is AWESOME!:)

i've never stayed at ASSports. I did just come back from WDW last week and I stayed at ASMu. I'm almost positive the rooms are the same in both resorts. i liked my room. when i got to check in i asked if it was possible for a king bed instead of two doubles. lucky me i got one! the room wasn't too crowded. so if they are anything like ASMu, i'd be happy with the room. the only thing with ASSports was that from a view of me staying at ASMu, the buses seemed to be really crowded. ASMu had its own bus stop at most ( if not all ?) of the parks. this i was thankful for. the lines for ASMo and ASSp seemed to be really long. after a night in the park i would NOT want to have to wait in that line. and they really pack people on those buses too! but you are the first bus stop, so you wouldn't have to worry about how crowded the bus is since you would be the first group on it!

DH and I returned Friday from a week long visit. We had 5 nights booked at ASMu and decided at the last minute to add 2 days. The only value (we were on a strict budget as this was a "hey let's go to WDW for our anniversary next month" trip with not much forethought) available for our extra 2 nights was ASSp. We hated it! Our room was filthy, and after 3 calls, was still dirty. The front desk CM was very rude. The food court was filthy, there were NO clean tables, it wasn't busy so we should have been able to find at least ONE. There were hairs, and lots of them, on our sheets, so I don't think the sheets had been changed. (Luckily we had pillows and blankets in the truck. We spread a blanket on top of the bed and covered with the other that we'd brought) After a 12 + hour drive, of course the first place I headed was the lobby bathroom, but didn't use it because the first 3 stalls I looked in were overflowing with #2, so I gave up and waited until we got to our room. Mistake, because our toilet had dried #2 on the seat! We had no shower curtain, and after waiting over an hour for one, we just showered and let the water flow! After numerous complaints with no resolution, we bit the bullet and paid for a family suite at ASMu for the second extra night, which worked out great because they gave the suite to us for the rest of our stay at no extra charge! We loved ASMu and are planning to stay there for our next trip in October 2008. Although we had a horrible experience at ASSp, let me say that this is not the norm for WDW! The values we've stayed at before are POP, ASMu and ASMo and NEVER had bad experiences. I don't know if maybe they'd been slammed the days before we checked in and were just getting caught up with cleaning but whatever the reason, we've never had these problems before. Even though it was bad this time, I'd probably give them another chance because, as I said before, THIS WAS DEFINATELY NOT THE NORM!

That's lousy!!!! Sorry you had to go thru that. What sections were you in?

Does anyone know which building ahve been refurbished?
And which ones still need it done?

I stayed at ASSports back in Jan 2007 and I'm going back next month. I've always stayed at the Value resorts (except for one stay at CBR), and I think that it's a great deal for the money. Granted, I'm single and without kids, so taking breaks and spending time at the resort is the last thing on my list. To be able to stay on site for less than $100 a night, how can you lose? Sure, there are times where there is noise, a missed piece of garbage, but I assure you that this can happen at any level resort anywhere. After spending all day at the parks, all I need is a bed and a pillow, and I'm out cold with a smile on my face. And coming home to the little surprises from mousekeeping and the great wakeup calls (Stich's "No more sleepy!!!" is my favorite) are just icing on the cake. Relax, enjoy the magic, and have a great time!! :goodvibes

DH and I will be staying at ASSp for the first time Oct 17-28, and I've come to the conclusion, we are just going to have to find out for ourselves. There are such mixed reviews, either people hate it or they love. Not much of a gray area. I don't know if people just have much different standards, or if the service isn't consistent, but I can't wait to form my own opinion in just 22 DAYS!!!

We just got back from All Star Sports on Saturday. It was very clean my room was not dirty or outdated the front desk people were amazing. Pools were very nice food was good and affordable BUT we had a few problems with a cashier not being able to speak english or understand it fully we got charged for a extra adult meal. We went one night and they were out of ice and the food court was a mess. Other than a few issues with the food court everything else seemed to be very good.

What building were you in?

Donna

I would just like to add to this thread. We've stayed at Sports twice, most recently the last of August. I don't have one negative thing to say about it. For the money, I think it is a great place to stay at Disney. If you've never stayed at a value, just do some research so you know what to expect. It is NOT a mod or deluxe, but we've always found it clean and comfortable for our family of 4. We basically use our hotel to shower and sleep.

We went from POR Riverside in 2004 to AS Sports in 2006, We loved both resorts. We found Sports to be better for overall value (we're not at the resort much) and because our boys (4 and 6 at the time) LOVED IT! That being said, If I had spare cash (???what is that???) I would love to go back to POR!
