I am looking to stay at the ALL STAR MOVIES and want to know what to look for in price and accomidations?

Hi, we stayed at ASMo in May '01. We paid 110.88 (tax incl.) per night but this was before I discoverd the DISboards and all the codes and discounts available. We would stay there again if I could get a great rate. The rooms are about the standard motel size room--two double beds, table and chairs, vanity area with rack and luggage stand for clothes, and a small bathroom. This was our first trip so I can't really compare the AS's to any of the other resorts. But I will be able to in a couple of weeks, staying at AKL 3/24/-3/30 (definitely find a code or use DC or AAA discount before you book your room)!!! We had room 764 in the Toy Story courtyard, it was a ground floor corner room. It was under a five minute walk to the play area, main pool and food court. The preferred building at ASMo is Fantasia and I think you generally pay about $10/night more. The only reason I can think of as to why it is preferred is its central location. Personally I would rather be a little further away from the main pool and food court. We faxed in our request for the Buzz building. There are no full service restaraunts at any of the ***, but the Food Court was fine for us, we usually only ate a quick breafast there (under $15 for the three of us) and our other meals at the parks. They also offer the refillable mugs, $9 each at the time, which you could refill with coffee, tea, lemonade and soda. Milk and oj you have to buy by the carton. The wait for buses was usually between 5-10 minutes, the longest we waited was 20 minutes for a bus from AK to ASMo. The only drawback to Movies is that it is the last stop, it goes to Sports, Music then Movies. So it will always be the last pickup and the last dropoff. However, it was not that bad. Hope some of this info helps.

Weve stayed there 5 times and 6 in sept! We have paid no more then 75 a night. We usually go oct, sept, may. We have always stayed in the puppy place. Its the newest allstar and is very clean. The pools are themed well but no slide. That was our onlu complaint. The food and store is cheap. Weve stayed at dixy landings port orleans and corinado springs. Although we love port orleans (original) We keep returning to all star movies!

We like ASMo and as long as you remembere it is a value resort, I think you will enjoy it a lot. A January AAA discount got a room for 60.61 a night. We did however upgrade to the prefered room, still less than 70.00 with AAA discount. We were in fantastia and loved it. We faced the pool and were steps from the main building. We found the bus service excelent and used it for all our traveling. We thought the food court was OK. Prices were cheaper than the fastfood in the park. The pizza was a great deal and the taco salad was wonderful. The rooms are a little small but we were not in the room much. Next trip we are going to stay at a monorail resort but we will come back to all ASMo another trip for sure.

We stayed at ASMo for the first time in September and really loved it. The rooms arent huge, but we had 5 people in there, a crib and a double carriage and had no problems. There was no excessive noise in our room. We love having a food court(we are the eat on the run types). The bus service cant be beat. Our longest wait was 10 minutes and that was returning from MGM after Fantasmic, so it was expected. The kiddie pool was great for my kids, and we all loved the theming around the entire resort(kids are big Toy Story & hockey fans). CMs were friendly & very helpful(one worked some Disney Magic to save DM some money). That was our first of many stays there, Im sure.

I think as long as you dont go in there expecting the ameneties of a deluxe resort, you wont be disappointed.

We stayed in Dalmation at $69 per night in December. There were 6 adults in 2 adjoining rooms. We found we had plenty of room.

This building was quiet, but fairly close to the bus stop and food court. Everything was clean and service was efficient and thorough.

There were Pop Warner football groups and cheerleaders staying in the hotel too, but they must have been in a back building because we never heard anything once we were in our rooms.

We are early risers and the food court was virtually empty at 7:00 am. I was impressed with the variety (everything from yogurt and fruit to omelettes). However in the evenings, it was mobbed - probably because of the early park closings. We usually ate our evening meal off-site. We could not use the pool because of the huge number of kids. Don't get me wrong - they were well behaved and having fun. We enjoyed sitting around watching them, but it definitely was NOT a quiet, romantic experience!

I would not hesitate to stay there again if on a budget. Would not be my first choice otherwise.

We stayed at the All Star Movies this past December and paid $49.00 a night (postcard discount). We were in the Woody building of the Toy Story section on the third floor overlooking Andy's room. Our kids, ages 6 and 2, absolutely loved it. They really liked the theming of the hotel. We found the Toy Story building very convenient to the pool, buses and food court. The rooms aren't huge, but even with four people we felt we had enough room.

Enjoy your trip!!!

We stayed at ASMovies in early Feb. with the Disney Winter Getaway rate of $49. Great Rate!! We stayed in the Toy Story Woody building, 3rd floor facing the corner end of the parking lot/wooded area. This was a very quite room at the end of the corridor. The room was kept very clean and was adaquate in space. The food court had a better selection than we had expected. We ate several meals there during our week stay. The only busy time at the food court was on a Saturday night. We also encountered cheerleaders at the end of our stay. But none where in our building that we saw. We would stay there again as long as the rate was comparable. I couldn't see spending much more than that for that type & size of room.

Can refillable mugs from previous years at the All Star Music be used at All Star Movies? That would be wonderful, but seems almost too good to be true........?????????/

Mafibisha -- I've heard as long as it's an All Star mug, you can use it at any All Star resort.

Thanks tiggie-piggie! lol

That is waaaaaay cool!!!!!!

This board is the best!

does the All Star Movies have slide in their pools ???
We have only stayed at CBR and this will be a budget trip - 11/29 to 12/07 - hope for great 49.00 a night rates - but kids will be expecting a slide due to the fact there was one last time..
thanks for your help.. Michelle

Mafibisha- We just returned 2/15-2/25, and we used our mugs from 2 years ago with no problems.

Bigsis1970- The All-Stars don"t have poolslides or hot tubs. The pool is great though.

My kids will just have to make do, a pool in Nov/Dec will have to be a good enough deal for them - compared to the weather we have in Maine.. Thanks again Michelle

We are planning a late May visit and wonder how the crowds are at that time, also, how late are parks open. We hope to stay at ASMovies but wonder about it being the last bus stop. Maybe in May it's not so bad?? thanks T

We stayed at ASMo last May, mid-month and the buses were not bad at all. The longest wait we had was from AK to ASMo, about 20 minutes. The reason I think this is, is that all the AS's share a bus system. I do think they should reconsider this and give them each their own bus, seeing that they are probably booked solid year round.
This was our first stay and I was actually impressed by the bus service. I was initially worried that it would be horrible because they are value hotels.
Also, the parks were usually open until 9 or 10, and they had an e-ride at MK during our stay which was the best part of our trip. The lines weren't bad at all, however going to MK at night when there is almost nobody around is priceless (well $36 for three to be exact).
Have fun!!:D

I can't help with the May visit questions but the bus situation is not a problem. In the mornings, each resort gets its own bus(or at least they did in January). On the return from the parks, there was sometimes a bus for each resort and sometimes one for all the all stars. All that meant was that it took a few minutes to stop at each of the other resorts before they got to ASMo. We enjoyed the bus service and used it for times we had planned to drive(DD & HHDR). May will bring higher crowds but I expect, more buses too.

I have some mugs from three yrs ago, but hadn't thought of reusing them. I thought I read sometime ago that the color/design of the mugs change every so often (every yr or so)? Just wondering if anyone has any more info on this.
Thanks!

And here goes the great mug debate.:D
Some people say they are good for life, others say thats very wrong.
We were told by CMs at DxL that the mugs are "good for life", so thats what Im going by until a Disney employee tells me no. And to be honest, I never have reused a mug yet, but maybe someday. ;)

When we were at ASMO in Feb. we saw all sorts of different mugs being used. I don't think they would say anything if you used your old mugs!:D
