Daughter and me are staying at movies and I know she would love to stay in the dalmations block but when we booked weren't given an option of where our room would be. Which part of movies is the best when travelling as a single parent with a nine year old?

Just call be to reservations or call the hotel directly and ask them to add the room request to your reservation. They do not make any promises, but they do try to accomodate. I have always gotten my request. The earlier you get there to check in the better! Fantasia building is the closest to the Food Court and buses (this is where the preferred rooms and higher rates are). The next closest are the Toy Story buildings. This is where we always stay. The absolute furthest is The Mighty Ducks buildings! Quite a trek! The Dalmations block isn't too far away...a little further than Toy Story in the opposite direction. Like Disneydreamer said, you can request but Disney will not guarantee rooms, buildings. They are pretty good at honoring requests though. I'd give them a call and a fax.
