All Stars Movie Resort VERSUS Contemporary

Ok, all you seasoned On-site stayers......I need your advice.

We have ressies for 2 rooms (6 of us) at the ASM for Oct 3-7, but I found out today, to upgrade to the Contemporary would only be a total of 155.00 for us, and instead of 2 rooms, we go down to 1 room for that price. Is it worth it? We won't be in the room that much, but like the idea of being on the monorail. I've been told that it's very busy and noisy at ASM w/ all the kids and long waits for things. The pool looks closer to my kids liking at ASM, and I hear that the Contemp needs a lot of updating. Poly is out of our price range, ....what to do?

Stay put at the ASM, or pay 155.00 total, go down to 1 room for all of us at Contempo? What are the perks I'd enjoy, if any, at the Contempo? Is it really worth my time and money to switch????? We are only going to a monorail park 1 day, and techinically, if we HAD to go monorail to MK, couldn't we just park in a monorail resort parking lot and get onto the monorail that way, just to experience it? We'll have our own car....
HELP!
LOL

you are comparing a deluxe resort to a value resort not fair to either.

the Cont has room service, valet parking, restuarants, one of the best arcade on property. Far fewer people!

only you can decide if it is worth it for your family.

I agree-its impossible to really compare these two resorts.
How many people in your family? 6? :scared1: I think you will be more comfortable in 2 rooms with 2 bathrooms and more space. Six in one room :crowded: at the Contemporary will not be fun and the perks of staying there will not matter at that point. Go with all stars. :goodvibes

You can't park at a monorail resort unless you are staying/eating there. However, you can park at the TTC and still ride the monorail.

THe CR has interior hallways, room service, queen sized beds, several sit down restaurants. If those things are important to you, you'd be better off moving to the CR. On the downside, sharing 1 bathroom with 6 people might be rough.

Yeah, I know comparing the two isn't really fair, but those are the two options I'm considering so I have to decide and comparing is how I do that.

Where is TTC located? We rode the monorail to get to MK last time, from the parking lot to MK, but......I don't know, i was just thinking it would be nice to go from our resort. Regardless, from what I've heard about trying to get a bus from any value resort, I think since we have a car, we'll be driving to our destinations to avoid the hassle w/ tons of other people. But, for MK, we'll find a way to go on the monorail. The resturants aren't a big deal to us since we have our favs outside inside each park, the interior rooms and quieter atmosphere are someting I"m interested in, but w/ a 2 yr old and a 4 yr old, how quiet will I have it?! LOL, and plus i'm sure they'd like a 30+ foot Woody to see..and all the other kid friendly things at ASM.

6 of one 1/2 a dozen of the other for what each offers us.

The only moderate that would hold all of us is Port Orleans, Riverside, not really interesting to us.....
And, yeah, 2 rooms and 2 bathrooms at ASM might offer less hassle too for us.
So unsure right now....at least I have until Aug 19 to decide.

Thanks for your input!

go with the 2 rooms unless you are the kind of person that needs to feel pampered, or you plan on going to MK everyday.

6 people in one room :crowded:?? I'd definitely go with 2 rooms at the All-Stars no matter what. But especially if any of the other 6 people are not your kids (e.g. your parents or other adults).

LOL, there would be 4 adults and 2 children, 2.5 and 4.5 yrs old. We've done it b4 in much less desirable conditions, and I've heard CR has among the largest rooms at Disney, so I thought it was possible...but no matter how big the room, there's still just one bathroom in the morning, right? LOL, that might be a problem come to think of it!

I'd definitely stick with the 2-room option. That way you will all still like each other by the end of the trip :p. Seriously, having 2 bathrooms for 6 people is worth giving up the monorail.

I've stayed at the All-Stars and Pop before, and they are great as long as you realize that they are not deluxes. But also remember that "value" at Disney is still Disney ::yes::.

For me, I'd rather stay at Motel 6 off property than stay in any room with 4 adults. I like the thought of having my own bathroom, my own shower, my own space. I love all of my family and friends, but there isn't one that I can think of that I'd want to live in a hotel room with. If it was my spouse and myself and 4 kids, I'd pick the Contemporary in a heartbeat. But, we love All Star Movies.

It is very clear in my mind when we were at the Poly and a couple we talked to were at the CR. Anyway they said they got a deal to go to the CR and they had stayed at POP the last time they were there. They did not like the CR as much as POP. It really surprised me. I think 2 rooms would be good, especially if you are not doing the MK that much. Good luck and let us know what you decided and how it went.

thank you for this comparison! Looking at the CR Waltdisneyworld.com isn't impressing me. It seems more like a moderate than a deluxe.

Oh well, it will probably boil down to having 2 bathrooms for 6 people in the end. LOL. Not even really the added expense!

I don't want to get to the end of the trip and say, "WHAT did I spend my extra 155.00 on?" We're only going to MK one FULL day, but I was wanting to see Wishes any night we were there, from CR.

Oh well, 155.00 will buy a lot more souveniers for the kids, right? I"m sure if I ONLY consider them, they would pick ASM in a heartbeat for all the scenery PLUS the extra $ going towards souveniers for them...
SIGH, I guess that's the decision then..
ASM!

Thanks everyone!

I would most DEFINITELY go with the two room option.

Two bathrooms, two televisions, and PRIVACY! With two rooms you can let the kids spend the night with grandma and grandpa one night, or two, or three..... some of that World Showcase atmosphere can get pretty romantic.....

No chance of romance if there are 6 of you in one room! Not for you OR for Grandma and Grandpa.

Just couldn't imagine staying at a value. Call me a resort snob, but I'd pick the CR. Thats where we're staying in September.

If so then all of you in one room will make for submarine conditions. One of you will crack and open the hatch while you are underwater. You might do well to get the two rooms at the ASM. While the CR and monorail are tempting, keep your sanity. Have all 6 of you stay in your living room or whatever hotel sized room you have and then think of that for 7 nights!!

Either way I hope you have a blast there, the kids are the right ages for the Magic to start happening for them.

God Bless :disrocks:

Deluxe or Value:

Deluxe is typically unessasary expenses for unessasary things. But since the price is so good, Deluxe is always better.

Value is typically low grade economic things at economic prices. Go for the deluxe

No. It's a Deluxe, that's for sure. I would personally choose the Contemporary over Pop Century at any time. There is really no comparison.

The main question is: can you comfortably fit 4 adults a 2 small kids into a single room. My answer is ... maybe. The older child will sleep on the day bed and the younger one in the pack-n-play. It's a big room and it will sleep everyone comfortably. The bathroom will be used primarily by the adults. My DD rarely bathes or showers at WDW since she is in the pool every day. A quick rinse after her swim and she's ready to go. However, I do think you will be a bit too cramped and you are better off with 2 rooms at one of the Value resorts. Each family will have its own space and the transportation from the Values is quite good. The kids won't care about the pool and the parents won't care as long as the kids are happy.
