All Stars for 2 Childless Adults?

This is good to hear. My 4 friends ( in our 30's, 40's & 50's ) are heading to WDW and staying ASM this December. I was trying to get us into a moderate but the cost savings of the value was just too big. With the savings we'll be doing other stuff like fancy dinners and maybe a tour. We'll be there during Pop Warner. We've already got our request in for upper floor rooms. How were the beds? on the hard side or soft side?

My husband and I stayed in All Star Music on our anniversary trip back in 2001. We LOVED it! That was before our son was born. With our son we've done Pop Century and All Star Sports.

Stayed at Pop and Movies back in 2017 and we don't have kids. It worked for us and we only used that room to sleep at night and we didn't have a problem with any outside noise. If you're worried about outside noise I would advise you to request a top floor room that way outside foot traffic will be held to a minimum.

Because of the theming and the renovated rooms, I feel like most young families pick all-star movies. It has the longest bus lines and in the afternoons when the all-stars share buses it’s the last stop. I had one experience at movies that was really quiet and one that was REALLY loud. There happened to be a character statue outside of my room so kids early in the morning would squeal as soon as they saw it. Plus the people in the adjoining room were loud.

If I were you I’d pick music. It’s been a few years since I’ve stayed there but it was a nice in between. Also, as long as you don’t go to the main pool it shouldn’t be too bad.

I’m currently staying at All Star Music, with my partner (30 & 31, no kids). He and I liked it in August but were worried about spring break crowds. While it is more crowded than during “surface of the sun” season, it hasn’t been too loud (even with our first floor, Calypso pool-facing room). With the door cracked slightly, you can clearly hear noise, but with it shut tightly we’ve been okay! Kids are loud, but I can’t hear them in the room. I do use a white noise machine but that’s more so to block snoring sounds (love you, honey!) than anything else.

We are planning to try a moderate resort but that’s mostly out of a desire to branch out and maybe spend more time relaxing than rushing around the parks. As someone else said; if you’ll mostly be away, it’s totally fine.

Pop has 2880 rooms, AS Movies and Sports has 1920 rooms and AS Music has 1604 rooms. Guess which of those 4 has less people in the pools, in the food court, or waiting for a bus?

Music, but not by as much as you think. At full capacity, difference between Music and the other All Stars is less than 600 people. And Music's facilities were designed for the same numbers as the other All Stars.

I should mention, to get a King bed, if that is the option you want, you need to ask for a special needs room.

Actually, you simply need to request a king bed. Using Pop, which numbers I'm familiar with, 5% of all the rooms contain a king bed instead of the two queens. Of those, I think 55% are accessible and 45% are standard.

Pop and the renovated half of Movies also have the advantage of one queen and one Murphy queen bed. A person or couple can leave the Murphy bed as is - the table - and enjoy a larger bed and open floor space.

My husband is a little curmudgeonly and thought the pool at the Poly was too crowded with kids, so I'm guessing we would want to avoid the All Star pools?

Avoid the themed pool at any resort, you should be fine.

If you want a new room with microwave and queen beds, go for Pop.

No microwaves in any regular rooms - just the Family Suites and DVC, even after renovations.

Bet to ask for a room on the 2nd floor and in the back.

Top floor, not second. All Stars are three stories, Pop and AOA are four each.

I only said that I do it and that those rooms have Kings. I don't think I said everyone should do it. My wife is wheelchair bound. I think she deserves being able to roll into a shower.

You didn't say that originally which, yes, does make a difference.

DD12, and I love Pop. We have stayed there in 2014, 2016 and 2018 and loved it all three times. We always get a preferred pool view and there is some noise at the pool, but once we closed our door, the noise never bothered us and I have never noticed hearing any neighbors. In 2018, we added a few days onto the beginning of our trip and stayed at ASMovies. I found it to be very nice. We were on the back side of one of the Mighty Ducks buildings. It was very quiet and it was just as close to cross the street and go to ASMusic's dining hall as it was to go to our own. We plan to do the same thing in 2019, but will have a preferred room at ASMovies and will again have a preferred pool view at Pop. All of our trips have been late May.

Our first trip was in 2013 and we stay at Port Orleans Riverside. Now, that was a quiet resort. We were near a quiet pool, so never actually went to Old Man's Island, the main pool, where all the noisy kids were. That trip was early May and was very quiet and relaxing.

I'm afraid that, while many of us don't find either resort too terribly noisy, as people without kids, you may just notice it more than we would. I remember when I was younger, long before having a child, being much less tolerant of the behavior and noise of children. Now that I have been through it all, even though my daughter was/is a very easy child, I have a lot more tolerance and patience for other people's children and their antics. I can also tune it out and not let it bother me. So, whatever that's worth.

3. Once you step on a park-bound bus, there is no difference from any other resort until you return.
4. The cast members are as nice as any.

The bad:

1. Smaller rooms.
2. Noisier by far.
3. Food courts can be crazy loud.
4. Lots of kids (doesn’t bother us, but for some...)

We stay high end, value, and moderate (wherever the military discount is playing). Each has its own pluses and minuses.

We like Pop over the All Stars, because of transportation. If you stay back by the bridge to AA, you can ride either an AA bus or a Pop bus returning from parks at night. That can be a big timesaver (being able to hop on whichever comes sooner). Plus, sometimes the All Star resorts share buses. It can be a pain to make two other stops going to or returning from the parks.

We like Movies over Sports (gawd the cheerleaders!). And Movies tends to be quietest.

This just makes logical sense. It's the third in the line of resorts. Bus stopping in order is more ecologically, economically, and chronologically the most sensible route.

Well yes it makes sense, I never said it didn’t. But it still makes for a longer bus ride which is a reason I prefer music to movies if I’m not touring commando style.

Yep, We use whatever bus comes first POP or AofA We almost always stay near the bridge so its works out great. Either way...not much of a walk even to front of POP
