My family's first and last visit to Disney world was in 2009 (3 of us). We loved it so much we finally are going back, but this time we are taking 13 people! We are not going to be able to afford staying at the wilderness lodge and we are okay with that because the other 9 people that are coming have never been to the world and we cant wait for them to experience it.

We have stumbled across renting a villa or vacation home. We stumbled across All Star Vacation homes and have been quoted $2800 for 7 nights. I have also read that its cheaper to go with a direct owner. Does anyone know a way to see direct owner listings without being ripped off?

Thanks

VRBO.com has homes and VillaDirect.com has homes that are reasonably priced.

Seems like if you are all trying to stay together you would need a 6 or 7 bedroom so that may run you about $300 a night plus cleaning fees and tax.

We usually go directly through the owners using vrbo, homeaway or other listing sites. I sent you a private message with a couple of places that we've stayed.

We rented thru All Star several years ago. Last year we rented thru a smaller management company that was cheaper. I didn't think it would make much difference other than price but I was wrong. When we had a problem with the smaller company, it took a day or 2 for them to call back and about 5 days (out of a 7 day trip) before they would come to fix the wireless internet, thereby costing us in data charges since my husband had to do work on the trip, which is why we rented a place that advertised wifi. With All Star, when there was a problem it was solved within 24 hours. I think they have more staff on call to handle problems so for me I would probably go with them next year. You just never know if there is going to be a problem though.

We always rent through VRBO. Most of the vacation houses are managed by a management company, and most of them are very good and respond to problems right away.

You can sometimes identify houses on a management company's website and then find the same house on VRBO for less. In fact, the house we'll be staying in this fall is an All-Start house, but we're paying about half by going through VRBO. All-Star will still be the company to take care of any issues that may pop up.

I had no idea! That is a great tip.

We used All-Star for our family trip during Christmas 2011. The bonus part was it included a car rental for the week. We paid less than that for our week but it does depend on the size of home, location, perks the home offers and the season.

From past experiences with other vacation rentals, I only rent from someone that is either in town or has a management company in town.

A couple of years ago we used Allstar and it was good. No complaints.

Last Christmas we used VRBO and it was good. No complaints, however we did pay about $50 per night less.
