Originally I had a room(not preferred) booked for 5 people. My dh was unable to go so I changed the reservation to my mother and to the preferred room so we would be closer to buses and food court. Then my dh was able to go and I had to add an extra room. The posts I've been reading make it sound like the other buildings are not so far away. Just wondering if I should keep the preferred room or save the money and take what I get. Does anyone know if I keep the preferred room reservation, if at check-in the football building is available could I downgrade to the cheaper price? Any info on this would be greatly appreciated. Also does anyone know a good room number at Surf's Up to be close to the buses?

We stayed at Surf's Up during the Sept. 11th week (plus Tropical Storm Gabrielle). Things were pretty quiet. That building, if you're on the pool side, can be really noisy until they close down the pool....so keep that in mind. If you're looking for a quiet period between 10 pm and midnight, get away from the poolside rooms. But: it's kind of cool to be part of all that activity as well.

I don't have the room number with me right now but it's pretty tough to ask for a specific room number during busy periods...and I'd go with choosing Surf's Up preferred room status for now- and hope for the bldg. You can always ask for the pool view when you check in.

That building is VERY close to the busses and food court so don't fret over the walk. With the tropical storm coming through, we really appreciated being close. Then the eye of the storm came through and everything got sunny and we thought "gee, I guess that's it...." Well, boy were we wrong. Pow: the storm came again just as strong or worse. We were rookies to Florida storms.

We stayed in the Touchdown Building 10 in March 2000 on the second floor facing the parking lot where the buses picked up. It was very quiet and close to what we needed.

We stayed at the Baseball section in May on the backside of the
building. I had an 8 yr old with me who hates to walk, and he
didn't mind the walk to the room at all. Those buildings are not
spaced that far apart and it is not a hassle to walk to the main
Stadium building at all!! I don't think an extra $10/night is worth
the preferred building.

I have stayed at the Football building twice and that would be my preferred building! :D I'd save the $. Not a long walk at all... we stayed in the Jazz building at the ASMusic once and THAT was enough of a walk for us after a long day at the parks. Try checking out a map of the ASResorts and seeing the buildings location. I think you'll agree with several of the posters on this thread!
Have fun!!!!

We've stayed at both the Surfs up & the Touchdown Bldg. Our 1st time we stayed at the Surfs up & we didnt pay any extra, thats just where they put us. When we were going back down we requested the touchdown bldg, but also requested NOT to be in surfs up(my bf doesnt think surfing is a real sport- he wanted a building that was a real sport :D silly huh?) Well while neither of the 2 are far from the hub, I think they are both rather busy. The Surfs up is set back a bit from the pool so while you do hear a little of the noise its not too bad. The football is loud cause all of the sports teams that stay at the resort year round practice there-- be it cheerleading, lacrosse, football etc. (Hopefully you'll be lucky enough not to be there the night before a competition- the cheerleaders were practicing ALL NIGHT!) I wouldnt spend the extra money for the extra 10 steps it'll take you. & if you are concerned about noise- then ask to be at the back of the buildings, the back rooms are more quiet & alot less traffic moves back there. (You wont have to worry about keeping the curtains closed all the time so you wont be staring at people walking back & forth) Well I hope this is helpful-- no matter what, even in the furthest room from everything-- you're in WDW so it will be great!! Have fun!

We stayed at AS Sports last year and were assigned the Touchdown near the street. The access was great to the food and busses but because we were on the food court/street side we heard the beeping of backing up trucks delivering food etc. every morning.....EARLY!!!! Just stay away from that alcove by the street. Other than that .......it was great! We had asked and paid for Standard and got a good access location. Maybe thats why it was considered standard....the beep beep.....O well.
Good Luck, Rick
