This will be my first visit to Disney World since 1978. I decided to do the more affordable resorts I don't intend to spend much time at the hotel anyway.

I plan to spend every moment catching up on what's been added to Disney World since my last visit. I was wondering if anyone can tell what to expect in the All-Star Sport resort. What about transportation to and from the parks and airport? I understand that the resort is likely to be rather crowded, should I expect any problems arising from this?

Any info would be appreciated :flower: :cool1:

I'm sure looking forward to my visit. :wave2:

Well, you've got a whole lot of catching up to do!! First off, the AllStar resorts are very good in my opinion. Some don't like them, but I feel very "Disneyish" when I am staying there.

Bus service can be slow at times, especially during the crowded summer months. We never waited more than 20 minutes for a bus at ASMovies. Just plan accordingly and try not to rush and you'll be fine. I don't know about from the airport as we don't fly.

You'll love it! Have a blast!

Welcome!

I stayed at ASSports last year. Transportation to and from the parks was nice. You are the first stop to be picked up and dropped off in the All Star resort area so that is nice. I don't know much about to and from the airport because we drove.

Not sure when you plan on visiting, but we visit during an "off" season. The only crowds we encountered were at the food court if you went at peak hours. Off hours weren't so bad. It still wasnt' horrible during the peak hours either.

It was fun to be there. I have 2 boys so of course they loved it.

I just stayed there last week and it was great! The room was comfortable and large enough for the 3 of us. DS6 loved the theming (I have to say that I did too) and the food court was great.

The bus service was fine. We waited at some points, but the one night there was a large line at MK, they sent us two busses at a time.

We will definitely stay here next trip!

I stayed there with my 3 DS's in Nov' 03 for 11 nights.

My biggest suggestion is not to plan on eating at the Food Court at the end of the day, but somewhere else. I did alot of standing in those food court lines and swore I would never do it again. So make your night time dinner reservations elsewhere now.

I too had your philosophy that I wasn't going to be in the room much and we weren't.

Don't skip the quieter pool past the football field next to the laundry mat. My kids tended to make more new friends there then at the bigger pool.

Also, find a different way to get to the bus stop without having to walk through the main entrance hall. Alot of ways are much shorter.

I saved for WL this time and was at the Swan in Jan. I'm pretty much done with the value's after those 11 days.

Thanks guys!! Anyway, I'll be there the first week of August. I'll be flying in from Texas and have been assured of free shuttles to the hotel from the airport and back at the end.

Food courts? No problem!

I stayed at Universal's Royal Pacific resort last year and never ate a single bite whilst at the hotel. Only used it for sleeping and showering :smooth: Since I'll be comming alone space isn't a problem.

I booked an American Airlines Disney package the seemed reasonably priced. Gotta fly for a coupla hours early on a Sunday (flight leaves at 5:00 am) so I'll be a tad jet lagged, but I don't care. It's been too long since my last trip to Disney during the 70's and I can't wait.

WL? I'll give it a go next time for sure.

You'll love the ASSports resort. It was our very first hotel forvery first trip and even my 2 DD's who are no sports fantatics loved it.

The rooms are nice and comfortable, the foodcourt has decent food, and the pools are quite refreshing.

A big plus for this allstar is that your on the very first stop on the bus route, you will most likely always be seated on the way there and get off on the way back.

Have a great time time catching up!

WOOOOHOOOOOO! Hey Jabba1 Me and the family will also be at Sports the first week in August :cool1: This is our first trip ever to WDW. We fly in on the first from Southern Illinois. Maybe we will bump into each other! Hope your trip is safe and great!!!

Outstanding!!!! I'll be pretty easy to spot, just look for a guy in a Superman: Ultimate Flight t-shirt from Six Flags Over Georgia. I'm a coaster enthusiast so I have quite a few t-shirts to that effect.

I also have t's from Cedar Point in Ohio. Milliennium Force being my fav. :cool1: Sure hope to see ya!!!

We love the Value Resorts.......We are hardley in our room so why pay so much money for something we wont enjoy because by the time we get to our room we are exhausted... :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
