Hello,
Going to All Star Sports on Aug 23-Aug30. Ive seen some posts on AS Music & Movies but nothing on the Sports. Can anyone give me some info on it. I originally wanted to book at Carribean Beach Resort, but it was full. Figures 2 weeks later it opens up, but decided to stick with the Sports.

Where is the best place to request a room. Close to the main building i would guess is the best since thats where the transportation and food court is right? Should I be honest or "fake" an injury...

I know we are getting the mugs but what else can some of you folks suggest.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hey I have done three stays and four different rooms in Sports.

There are preferred buildings and I think that is Surfs Up.
I've stayed in Tennis, Basketball, Surf Up, and Football.

Football is a great location. Close to the lobby, pool, and busses. All in all, a good location. You can specify football building when reserving or call in that request.

This was our first trip to WDW and we stayed in Sports. I didnt request a particular bldg and they put us in the basketball section..hoops ..

our bldg was right by the parking lot, but our room didnt face the lot.

While we werent right by the pool or the food court, it wasnt that big a deal to walk there... I think the baseball section was about the same distance from the food court as the hoop section we were in.. and if I was to do it all over again, I would probably ask for baseball.. the walk wasnt bad, it wasnt super loud or crowded, and the laundry room and pool in the baseball area wasnt as crowded as the one near the food court. (we swam in the one by the food court but did laundry at the baseball laundry room.. and it was a long walk from our room but not horrible)

If I didnt request baseball, Id probably go with football since its right between baseball and the food court. Then I would be close to the food and transportation, but also close to the less crowded pool and laundry room.

we did go to the Movies hotel just to look around (we have 6 kids who wanted to see Woody) and to me it seemed like some of those buildings were more spread out than the sports ones.. so I think you would be ok with any of the buildings really.

We bought the mugs and refilled them constantly. (we bought 4 and kids shared)

if you need to buy milk on site (like to put in a cooler), get it in the gift shop and not in the food court.. a half gallon in the gift shop was cheaper than 4 little cafeteria sized ones in the food court.

The buses came pretty fast, and I had read that they pick up and drop off at other all stars as well, but we only picked up at another hotel once in the week we were there and that was when we only had my family and one other person on the bus. We also only had another hotels people on with us to drop off one time and we got dropped off first.

Im not sure what other kinds of info you want/need but Ill try to help if I can! Just post.

We love the sports. We have stayed in every section except for touchdown. No matter what I request...they just don't put us there...lol.

The sports is laid out so well, it doesn't matter what section they put you in, you are no more than a few minute walk from everything. There are two pools, two laundry rooms. The nicely decorated courtyard areas are great for kids to play in, and good photo spots.

We love the food court...we found it better than the food court at the moderates. The made to order pastas are wonderful. The buffalo chicken sandwhich, the turkey with mashed potatoes and green beans...yummy. Hubby likes the beef with mashed potatoes. the ice cream and baked goods look wonderful, though we haven't tried them. Pizza is not too bad. There is a quick area where you can get cheese/grapes, salads, sandwhiches, wraps, taboule, etc. You can also purchase drinks (beer, pop, juice) At the bar, you can be served alcoholic drinks from inside/or outside. There is also a refillable beer thing (yard)...great deal, but the beers are nothing special.

The rooms are all pretty much the same...one recommendation I would have is to bring your own soap and shampoo. You get mickey hand soap for the sink outside the bathroom, but the body wash and shampoo in the shower area are in dispensers and I don't care for them much...they don't even smell very good.

Lobby is large...has a tv area for kids to wait while you wait in the check in line.

We prefer the as sports to any of the moderates...and we have tried them all. We just never found any value at the moderate resorts...so we stick with the all stars or a deluxe/home away from home.

Have a great vacation!

Thanks for the ideas. I really appreciate it.
This will be our first time staying on property and we are very excited. I know my 5 yr old son will love it and Im sure my wife and I will too.

Saw some other post on what to do since the parks are closing earlier.
Hopefully there will be some other E nights but Im not holding my breath. Looks like Aug 22 is the last night.

Here's what we did on last trip & plan to do again: We bought a $4 water bottle at Walmart that had a thermal/fabric cover around it & a shoulder strap for easier carrying. Every day before heading out to the parks my husband would fill our 2 mugs with lots of ice & lemonade (soda would go flat). Then we'd head back to our room & fill our water bottle with it. Saved lots cause the 20 oz. soda bottles in the parks were $2.50. Granted we didn't have ice cold lemonade the WHOLE day but for at least half of it. Plus we always headed back to the resort for the afternoon so we could relax, have snacks, and refill! We stayed at the football which was a good location; near the cafe & pool but not close enough to hear the guests at the pool. Have a great time!

 First time at All Star Sports, we staying in Basketball and I loved it! The next two times we stayed in Football. I just requested Football when I made my reservations both times, and that is where we were!!! They will honor your first request. It is closest to the Food Court. The food court, by the way, is great!!

What rates are you getting for those of you going in Aug, and those who went in July??? Thanks:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Granted we didn't have ice cold lemonade the WHOLE day but for at least half of it

We have the same container..we bring our lemonade premeasured in baggies. When we use one up, we ask for ice and water from any of the stand that sell soda in a cup ..sometimes they fill our container, and sometimes just give us glasses of ice water. We then mix the lemonade and are good to go.

I got a rate of 1187.00 for the Fairy Tale VC package. I got this rate through AA Vacations back on May 30. This includes 8 days unlimited park hopper, a free print, 7 nights at AS Sports and transportation to and from Airport. This is for 3 people

I got flights on AA as well. 3 r/t tix for 230.00 pp for a total of 690.00. I have since recieved vouchers from AA for 115.00 since the airfare went down. If you buy airfare, always check to see if the price went down. Call the airline. They will honor that rate and issue transportation vouchers for the difference.

A friend just gave us a big insulated cooler that collapses. It will fit in my bag and we will be taking juice paks and snacks with us to help defer the costs some more. Free ice at hotels will ensure the stuff is cold, plus we are going to buy the mugs.

Only 9 more days until our VC.
