All Star Sports - just returned

I had not stayed at AS Sports for a few years. I was surprised at how much the landscaping had grown and how very lush it is now. Stayed in Hoops and could not have been a better location! VERY close to main building.

Bus service was maybe the best I've EVER experienced in 30+ trips to WDW. waited 2x for 10 minutes leaving Epcot at non peak times. Was a walk on to 5 minute wait every other time.

For those who get their panties in a wad about bus sharing, only TWICE in 3 days we shared buses.

We stayed there once and also loved the buses and the grounds. Its a nice little resort. No matter which building you get its not a far walk to the main building\buses.

All Star Sports is our go to resort we love it there. Especially since we don't stay in the room except to shower and sleep. Also Hoops really isn't "close" to the main hall. Touchdown and Surfs up are, and Surfs up is the preferred building. But out of the other buildings (Tennis, Hoops, Home Run) they're basically the same distance from the main hall.

I was on the back side of Hoops, facing Surf. I went out my door, turned right, walked down 1 1/2 sides of the building then I was "at" Surf, which is a preferred location. Went along one side of Surf and I was at the main building. To me, that is very close.

Was the pool beside the food building closed? I read elsewhere that it is closed for refurbishment. Can you tell me if the small 'kiddie' pool behind it was still opene? We are leaving in 13 days!

I could have written this. Our stay in Surfs Up earlier this month was nearly perfect. We had the same experience with the buses...and we were never on a full bus, never stood.

Thanks for this. And I am one to get my "panties in a wad about bus sharing". Having to wait for people to fold up strollers and go through the whole "where do you want to sit" stuff once is enough but three times is two too many. I just want to be on a bus and go. Nice to know it's not that bad right now but we'll see what happens at Labor Day. Switched from Pop (no shared bus) to Sports for a change and nothing else. I'll see what my reactions are.

Glad to hear you had a good stay.

Sports was the Resort I stayed in on my very first trip to WDW in 2003,so it will always be special to me.

I have stayed there many times since 2003 and consider it my "Home Resort".

My last stay there was in July and I renamed Sports "Little Brazil" that week,but that's another story for another time.

Were the new pictures up in Stadium Hall or did the wall still look like this?:

My DH & I stayed there way back in 1994 when the value level resorts were a brand new idea to staying at WDW. We always think of it for maybe an inexpensive trip because our DS is 12 & loves sports. We are from Pittsburgh, we will be kicked out if we didn't love sports I get scared away from the stories of the large teen school groups they stay there. It is nice to hear a positive review

We just booked Sports for our trip in December. Very excited!!! I have to be honest this will be my 2nd time staying at this resort. I have stayed at all the value resorts multiple times and of all the value resorts POP is my least favorite. Even during times we shared buses with the other all star resorts. I NEVER waited as long as I did for buses to and from the park then I did when we stayed at POP.

The old pictures had been up since the Resort opened,I think,so I am really looking forward to seeing new ones.

Music and Movies are getting new pictures also.

The large groups that stay at Sports do definitely make for a "different" Resort experience!

Many Guests simply cannot "handle" "living" with the Groups which is completely understandable.

I have "lived" with Cheerleaders,Pop Warner and South American Tour Groups during trips to Sports and they all make for an "interesting" experience in their own way!

You just have to "try" to "roll with the punches"!

So a few qucik question, last time we stayed here was in Aug 2010. Do all the rooms now have a mini refrig? Also were all the rooms redone again to have flat screen TV's? We have a total of 8 people traveling with us in 3 differeny rooms. All 3 reservations are linked with a travel with #. Do you think are odds of being in rooms next to each other are good? Want to at least be on the same floor in the same building. We arrive on Wed 12/12 around 12 noon. Appreciate anyones thoughts.

We did note when we made the inital reservation that we requested connecting/adjoining rooms. So hopefully they will see that. I am going to also call the resort a few days prior to arrival and ask for the room assigner and reiterate our requests to them. Hopefully that helps. We should arrive at the resort around noon, which is before check-in time, so I will definitely mention it to the cast member again at check in.
