Can anyone tell me if staying at the All-star resorts is a good idea? Did you like it? Why or why not?

Also, this may be dumb (never been to WDW before) do any of the off-site hotels have early admission priveleges to the parks? I'm going at a horribly busy time (New Year's) and want to make sure I can get into the gates and not wait 2hrs in the car just to get in.

Thanks for your insight,

Kelly

Yes - I did enjoy my stay - they are cute!!!

I won't want to stay for a long visit but for a few days that are pretty great.

Although I think I would prefer Pop Century (better location - same price).

this is a DIsney resort - WDW resort - so yes - you get early entrance - magic hour (I think it is called now) - for the MK uses the WDW transportation - believe it or not it is faster for the MK.

for epcot if you have car - leave early - park it - when you go back to hotel at midday take the WDW bus - then that night after Illiniuminations you will just have a little walk to your car.

The only off site hotels where you get early entry is the Hilton at Downtown disney and the Swan/Dolphin in the EPCOT area.

The All Stars are great as long as you don't go in expecting too much. There are the cheapest rooms on site for a reason. They are small and don't offer nearly the ammenities of a moderate or deluxe resort. That said, my wife and I have stayed at the All Stars our last two trips. Once for 4 nights, once for 6 nights. I love the All Stars and would stay there again in a heartbeat! The All Stars are just your basic, no frills hotel with food court and pool and a splash of Disney styling.

We found it quicker and more convenient to drive our car from the All Stars to whatever park we wanted to start the day at, then use Disney transportation if we wanted to go around somewhere else. This was during the off season, so ymmv at New Years. If you stay on site and drive to the park, the parking is free. If you stay off site and drive in each day, the parking is $7 a day.
