Is it really worth paying for the preferred room? I am staying at ASMo in Oct and the more I read the more I'm not sure I should pay the extra $70 for the preferred room. I originally did it so we could be in the Toy Story building (which is preferred) but as long as my boys get to see the Buzz & Woody outside I think they will be satisfied. Plus after some of the reviews I've read I'm thinking it might be nice to be in the Mighty Ducks building with the pool right there and from what it sounds like ASMu isn't too far of a walk if we want to catch the bus or visit that resort/food court, etc. Am I correct in all these things for anyone that has been there? Should I cancel the preferred, keep my $70 and request a room in Mighty Ducks?

Thanks!

I have never stayed in Preferred. You will walk by the icons, and when you are in the hotel room the outside decor won't be visible.

I think alot of folks like the preferred location since it means less walking. Personally, I don't mind a little extra walking. I'd rather spend a little extra money on a fridge and car so that we can have cold beverages and snacks.

Have a great trip! :)

We haven't ever booked preferred at the values, I just don't see the need to. If we stay at ASMo again, I know my youngest would go crazy over Herbie, so that's probably what I'll try to get.

I was debating about the same thing. But decided against it. Bought MNSSHP tickets instead. We rarely use Disney's Transportation so being close to the buses really doesn't matter to us. Though with gas prices they way they are we might board a bus or two this time.

At ASMo I don't think preferred is worth it. To me only Fantasia is preferred though I know they have now included Toy Story and Dalmations. Which I think is ridiculous. It's why we don't stay at ASMo or Pop.

We stayed in Mighty Ducks and LOVED it. Having the small pool right there was ideal. It was shallow enough for DS to stand up, which made it much more relaxing for me. We went to the big pool once and that was enough. So big, loud and chaotic!

Using the Music bus stop and sometimes the food court/arcade worked out great for us.

How far realistically is the ASMo food court from the Mighty Ducks? How deep is the Mighty Ducks pool?

We paid to stay in the preferred rooms at ASMo last time. We requested Toy story, but got Fantasia. I personally think the worst part of the day is getting the kids to the room at the end of a long day, so I don't mind paying extra.

This next trip in Sept, I will request Fantasia since it is the closest. Make sure you take the kdis to see ToyStory stuff regardless of which blgds you stay in - -- it is very cool. I don't recommend early morning though -- it was too sunny and my photos did not turn out well.

We just got back from our vaca and we stayed in the Fantasia 2000 3rd level preferred.I think it is worth it to do the preferred. We were close to the pool,(although WE wouldn't want to be ANY closer because the pool didn't close until Midnight and you could hear people in the pool all night long),close to the food court and the buses. We drove to the parks everytime except for 1 time. We were kinda close to the cars as well. They have elevators which was nice that we didn't have to walk up 3 flights of stairs but they only have 1 elevator which is in the middle of the hotel. I don't think I'd do the 3rd floor again if I had a choice though. We didn't like being that high up,and for some reason our air conditioner didn't work that well. We had it on 65 the whole time but during the day it would be warmer in the room. I def think preferred is nicer though. I'd hate to be at the end of the hotel away from everything.

The food court - I never actually timed the walk, but we never had the "are we there yet" feeling. Definitely less than 5 minutes.

The pool - it goes from 3.5 feet to 5 (or 5.5?) feet. It's almost square in shape so there is a loooong wall in the shallowest part. There are two sets of steps that are big enough to play on. They have a bin full of life vests for non-swimmers or less confident swimmers.
