All-Star resorts - how crowded for 4 adults?

I have read many times on these boards about the cramped quarters in the All-Star resorts. I have also read posts in which people said that they weren't that bad. I know that they are approx. 215 sq. ft. and so I was wondering from those of you who have stayed 4 adults in a room - how bad was it? What was the worst part of it? Also, which rooms are better in the Music building?

Any pros or cons would be appreciated as we are booking tomorrow for this July. We usually stay off-site at Marriott hotels because we always visit Sea World, Universal and Disney, but this year our best friends are joining us and since we are only visiting Disney, we want the convenience of being right in the middle of the magic.

Thanks, Tiger

4 adults in an All-Star room?

Physically possible. Mentally torturous.
I take it your talking about 2 couples in 2 double beds in one room.

Last year, Mum, myself and the twins stayed at the ASSport and got two adjoining rooms, which during value season with AP discount came to $108 inc tax/night.

The beddings would be the least of my probs. Shareing an AS bathroom between 4 adults would be an *absolute* nightmare! It would be made worst if one of your persons was a snorer etc.

I would really, really advise against it.

There are PLENTY of good savings to be had for July. Have you checked Mousesavers or the Dis's own discounts for reduced Summer rates?

All Stars only have double beds. :(

Why not get 2 connecting rooms at All Stars. That way you'll have more privacy, more room and 2 bathrooms instead of one?

Thanks! Finances aren't really an option - we have received the summer saver rate of $74.00, and we have always wanted to stay at the All-Star Music resort.

One more thing if you don't mind, how are 4 adults in a moderate resort? We are now debating whether we should book 2 rooms at All-Star, or 1 room at a moderate.

My best advice is to get 2 connecting rooms at the All Stars. I would suggest the Movies. It would be a great choice, esp. since this is a first trip for your friends. You can't beat the Movies for the Disney atmosphere!

The best part about 2 rooms at the All Stars is the TWO BATHROOMS!! I cannot tell you what a lifesaver that was for us Easter 2001. We have stayed at one of the moderates with 4 adults. Even though the rooms are a little larger we didn't feel that it was really all that noticable. We all hated the layout and bus service at Riverside. However, the absolute worst part was having only ONE bath. It was a NIGHTMARE!!

I highly recommend two connecting rooms at the All Star Movies. Your friends would enjoy the atmoshphere and the savings. The layout, food court, and bus service are great. Most of all, you will appreciate not killing each other in the morning over the one bathroom! :D

BTW, if you decide to go with the All Stars make sure you request "Connecting" rooms when you make your reservation.

Tiger926-We have been at Dixie Landings (oops-Riverside now) with another adult couple in the same room on two occasions. Both times, they were good friends, and we didn't have any problems at all. FYI T

Although we haven't been 4 adults..we have been 3 adults and two kids (one under 3). We were seldom in our rooms, and some took showers at night, some in the morning. I wonder if the showers by the laundymat would be open early in the morning? I think you can use your key to get in them. That may help. Our "stuff" was more a problem than the kids...my adult daughter brought soooo much stuff for the kids LOL. I can't help you with the moderates, since this will be our first saty (5 of us), but looking into their windows, I didn't see much difference..the sink area looks bigger, but that won't help us. Also two sinks..I would rather have one and all the storage on top of the sink counter.
If they would let us continue to be in the All stars, we would stay there again with a rollaway (which we had the last time) and save the money. Of course the rollaway takes up room too.

Agree -- Get two rooms.
Do-able, but cramped and not enjoyable.
We have stayed at CSR and I wouldn't want four adults in that room either. The sink area is larger (double sink as opposed to single) and the room is slightly larger, but not enough you really would notice. (IMHO)
WDW can be hectic and not a relaxing vacation. (Fun, but not relaxing.) I wouldn't create even more stress/unrest on top of that.

Thanks all! I pretty much had already decided to get 2 rooms, but I promised my best friend I would get some more opinions.

Thanks for the info! Tiger

I guess Im too late to help, but IMO, I dont see a problem with it at all. We had 3 adults and 2 kids in an AS room. This means we also had a crib and a double carriage stored in there. We did fine. We got the morning bathroom situation down to a science and never had a problem(I take the longest, so I was up first). We were only in the room to sleep, shower, change for the pool, regroup between parks, etc... We never hung out in the room.

As for the issue of having 2 couples sharing a room, Ive done that before(not in WDW) and it was never a problem either. We actually had a lot of fun together.

Another vote for 2 rooms at All Stars.
Don't forget you will be charged an extra $15 / adult if more than 2 adults in a room.
So if you went with 2 rooms at All Star , you will only be paying a total of $24 more a night than if you went with one room at moderate! AND you will have 2 BATHROOMS!:
All star 2 rooms = $74 x 2 = $148
moderate 1 room = $94 + 30 = $124
:D

IMHO having an extra bathroom is absolutely worth the $24/night.
:D

Keep in mind that our tax system is MUCH different. Your exchange isn't nearly as bad as you might think.

We have a state/county tax, which would be like your provincial tax (unless you are from AB), but there is NO GST! The tax rate is about 11% on your resort, but food and passes, and souveniers only have a 6% rate. Depending on which province you are from, that means your dollar is actually worth up to 9% more than the official exchange rate!

If you're a teacher, have you considered the teacher discount at Swan or Dolphin?

4 adults in ANY room would be crowded ... but the biggest problem I can see is that many people sharing a bathroom ! We have 2 small children and have stayed at all levels of resorts and we LOVE the All Stars. Even with all of our paraphenilia for our little ones, we still have plenty of room. I don't think the issue here is room size -- it's the bathroom situation ! I've stayed in the Fort Wilderness Homes with 4 adults -- lots of room but the one bathroom was the big issue. I highly recommend Music as it's our favourite AS resort. My 5 yr old dd likes Movies best because of the icons, but we liked the overall atmosphere at Music by far. And we felt the food court was better too.
