All Star Resort Question!!!

Any recommendations between All Star Movies or Music or Sports? I'm not familiar with either of them. I booked two rooms at All Star Movies yesterday since we have 6 in our traveling party. (3 adults, 3 kids) But there was availability at Music and Sports as well so I could switch.

On our previous trips we've stayed at POR (3 times), AKL, and AofA suites (twice). I actually booked this trip yesterday, without telling my husband, :ssst:. It's been an incredibly difficult past 2 years for him (mental & physical health) and he isn't thinking we can save enough to get back until after the Star Wars Land opens. I'm a photographer though, and I've been putting away all of my earnings and taking every booking possible so I can pay for it myself and surprise him.

All that to say, should I expect a resort stay much like our AofA, is there a specific location or area I should be looking for?! He won't care about it being a different resort than what we're used to, but change is hard for me so I'm just looking to prepare myself, thanks so much!

All 3 resorts are basically the same-room wise. Music does have some suites. I have stayed at Music every year since 2009 and love it. I will agree that I like the outdoor decor of Movies much more than the other two and I like the gift shop at Sports more than the other two. That's the beauty of staying at the All Stars. You can go between one to the other which is why we stay at Music, we are right in the middle. The dining facilities all had upgrades several years ago as did their game rooms. I understand that Movies is in the middle of a complete overhaul with Music to follow. The updates at Movies is supposed to go from March to November of this year. I believe this entails updating every room such as new flooring, furniture, painting, etc. Have fun.

AoA is more like a Value Super Plus, it will not be like that at the AllStars. Best you not go in comparing them, especially since you had suites.

I have stayed at Sports many times in last few years, always had fresh rooms, good service, good bus service, the food court is newer and we really like the main pool area set up and theme. We have stayed in all the areas but Football. Wouldn't want Tennis again and Surf's Up was our favorite. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Movies is certainly the most DISNEY themed of the three, it's secondary pool is a good size. It's not my first choice because I would likely only pay the extra for Preferred (I didn't click with the Herbie area), I don't believe the food court got renovated after they did Music (and it is the newest of the three so that may be why) and they are currently doing room renovations. (like POP: gut. New floors, all new bathrooms, new furniture which will be 2 queens)

Music ............. we honestly will stay offsite before going back here. It is laid out very different than all other values and the standard rooms are way back away from the main hub. At night it is very dark and the only Disney hotel I felt uncomfortable at night. I am not wowed at all by the music theme, it feels more like a route 66 motel. The food court did get a renovation a few years back so that is newer. We used the secondary pool, didn't like the main pool.

If your kids are younger I think they will love Movies, the Toy Story area alone is so cool! That would be Preferred. If you booked Standard I would likely pick Mighty Ducks, easy walk to everything, has it's own pool if you don't want to go to main pool.

When are you going? All-Star Movies just started renovations so depending on when you’re going you may be lucky enough to get a renovated room, especially if you request the right section.

Going to AS Movies June 8-17 does anyone know updates on what rooms have been refurbished ?

I prefer the Sports. I really like the update they did to the food court. And on the rare occasions the All Stars share a bus, the Sports is the first stop.
Thank you! That’s good to know about the bus stops. We usually drive to HS/EPCOT/AK but def bus to MK.

We are going from August 27th to September 5th at this time. I may end up adding a day or two on at the front or back in the next month or so.

Thank you for the honest review on Music and for not comparing to AofA, that will def help me. I think I’ll stick with Movies for now; we have 3 boys; 10/9/4 so I think they’ll enjoy that. Since we’re saving so much doing the 2 rooms at value as opposed to a suite or staying deluxe I could splurge for the Preferred and not mess up my budget. I appreciate your feedback!

Well they started the toy story section renovations late March or early April, so I would think there will at least be some new rooms by August, maybe you’ll get lucky!

I’m hoping to hear an update too. I’m assuming since we haven’t, the first building, Buzz, must still be in the works. We’re arriving there the day after you leave.

I've stayed at both Movies and Sports. We liked Sports better, it's laid out more compactly, so you don't feel like you have to walk so far. Of course when we stayed at Movies we were in one of the end rooms in the Mighty Ducks section, in one of the rooms furthest from the lobby/food court.

BUT,on the other hand, you were about 30 seconds from Melody Hall at All-Star Music!:)

Movies is my favorite of the 3 because it's so classically Disney. And here's a tip: If you get the Mighty Ducks section, it's so close to Music you can walk over there to use the buses and main building! It's closer to Music's than it is to Movies!

This is all I've heard too! No timelines have been released, unfortunately!

I agree with this 100% and with @HopperFan as well. I like sports best. I would not go to Music. I too would stay off site before staying there. It has the worst layout out of all the all-star resorts.

I have multiple stays at each one!

Movies has the most fun theming that screams DISNEY!!!

Music tends to be a bit more quiet as it attracts more adults on a budget

Sports has gorgeous, lush landscaping.

You can't go wrong with any of them!

On a last minute trip last June 2017 we had a discount code and chose Music. It was actually quite wonderful. We stayed in Bldg 7 Broadway facing the back. Super quiet, clean, nice bright food court and lovely cast members. Bus transportation was excellent on this trip. We were there to visit Pandora so location was great. We had a great time and a good discount code. We decided for our son's high school graduation next June 2019, we will chose Movies. The values are great for families who spend their time in the parks.

I'm currently scheduled for Music in the fall. Is the problem the long walk to the lobby or is there some other issue? I mainly picked it because Movies was full (probably due to the renovations and not knowing where it will be 6+ months in advance) and I've already been to Sports.

I also liked that it has less rooms than the other two.

We've been in all 3 All Stars hotels and we love it!
Basically they're all the same, just the theming is different.

Movies is our favorite, but Music has a quiet peaceful vibe.
Sports can be a great theming for adults and teenagers who really love sports.
