I currently have a reservation from 8-24 to 8-31. Free dining plan included. Is there a charge if I move around the days. It would be from 8-23-8-30. Would that also cut the dining plan down one day. I saw good airfaire for 8-23. I was thinking it may be worth changing if there are no cancellation fees.

We changed our dates at ASmu. No charge.

I believe you have until 5 days prior to arrival to make changes (or perhaps that is to cancel). Someone else will know.

You have until 45 days out to make changes to a package without penalty. However, if you have free dining booked, I think you have to make any changes before the free dining codes expire.

As for the dining credits, that's based on the # of nights you stay.

You should check to see if you need two separate reservations for your trip if you're wanting to take advantage of free dining, but arriving a day before it starts. You might need a one-night room only for 8/23 and then the 8/24-8/30 part would be a separate package with the free dining. BTW, we are going to be at ASMu from 8/24-8/30 on FD. It's our first time at a value, we're looking forward to giving it a try.
