All Star Music-two reservations

A couple of questions here. Due to a change by the airlines, I will now be arriving at MCO at about 1 am. Rather than staying at an airport hotel for a few hours I decided to book a Room Only at the All Star Music where I have a reservation beginning later that day for six nights.

I understand that I'm suppose to go to Guest Services to 'check out' and then 'check in'. As I think about this I think this would be more work than it really needs to be. But just as important, I may not have a room to return to for a big part of that day. I should inform you that this is likely my last trip to WDW. I have Stage 4 Lung Cancer and I while I'm doing well, I REALLY need a place to rest mid day. But I do plan to be at the park first thing that morning.

My question is do you think there is anyway around doing this 'check out' and being able to leave my stuff in the room?

One more question. I have paid for a preferred room, Calypso building with both reservations, and would really like a second or third floor room with a pool view. I don't mind the noise and would love to be able to stand outside my room and watch people having fun in the pool. I have the phone number for the Calypso and am thinking I read somewhere its best to call that number a few days before arrival-is that correct? I'll be there in November.

I don't mind having paid for only a few hours in the room as I will be where I want to be that morning as opposed to staying at the airport and having to deal with getting to Disney that morning.

Many thanks.

Edit- my second reservation has my tickets and the dining plan. I have one more question. Is there laundry service at this resort? I'm sure it would be expensive but I won't have much and am thinking it would be worth it so I don't have to do it myself.

We have done something similar to this, and at the time it was because we were checking in the day before free dining started. I created a room only reservation and had our agent add a comment to tie it to our full reservation. When I checked in for the room only, I reminded them of that and asked if we could keep the same room for the rest of the trip and they were able to accommodate that. I did have the return to the front desk the next day to "check out and check in" but it wasn't a big deal at all.

I would definitely recommend calling in and even calling in to the resort directly, prior to your trip just to ensure that they have your request. We didn't go this far in our situation because we COULD have moved if necessary. But they will definitely accommodate whenever possible!

Call now and add requests to your reservation(s). Pointless to wait until a few days before.

There is a self serve laundry room where you can wash and dry your own clothes. I am not sure about a laundry service where you can send the laundry out to be done. Perhaps someone else knows for certain. I remember seeing laundry bags clipped to hangers in the closet of some of the hotels at least. I have never used this service, though, and I could be confusing which resorts that I have seen this.

It is highly likely that Disney will let you stay in the room that you are in already for both reservations. I would note it on both reservations, call about 5 days prior and ask again at check in. When you actually go to checkout/checkin mention it again. Be nice but persistent. CM's are usually nice and try really hard to accommodate so I expect that this would likely happen for you.

Good luck!

Thanks. I will call today and again right before the trip and remind them again at check in. I don't mind at all going to Guest Services and 'checking in and out', I just want to be able to leave my stuff in the room and I need to be able to return to that room later that morning/early afternoon for some must needed rest. I'll point out what view I'd like too :)

Since I'm going to be calling anyway, I'll ask about the laundry service. I just want to save as much energy for me as I can.

As PPers have said, call ahead. Then tell them your quandary (again) when you check in. I've had this happen at All Stars (Sports?) and while I had to go through check out/check in I was able to remain in the same room. The same was true at AKL.

I'm going to be having a split res at one hotel in November, and when I spoke to a cast member on the phone about it I was told that they will keep you in the same room whenever possible, because it's less work for the resort.

Just wanted to give a quick update. I called Disney today to explain the importance of me keeping the same room and why. The lady was nice and linked the two reservations together and made plenty of notes on both. I also took the chance to make sure both showed my preference of a pool view on the 2nd or 3rd floor.

I felt much better after talking to her. Thanks for all the great advice.
