All Star Music or Movies?

My husband and I are planning our Anniversary trip to WDW in May, but we are wanting different resorts. We know we are staying at a Value, but we can't agree between All Start Music (his choice) or All Star Movies (my choice). Which resort is better? We were spoiled staying at the POP in September with not having to share buses with other resorts. HELP!

I like movies better, but its more busy than music. If you want it to be quite then I would say music. I usually stay at music because its not as busy and more relaxed. They are both neat in there own way. But it really depends on what you would rather have.

I just got back from an eight night stay at All Star Music. We had a great stay there.

I am 55 years old and travel several times a year. I often stay at 4 star hotels.
So the deluxe resorts do not have anything special for me.
All Star is like being in the heart of the Magic and that is where I want to be.

All Star Music is my favorite.It is quieter because more couples stay there. I love staying at the Clypso building. It is closer to the pool,food court and bus stop.

The Calypso buildings at All Star Music are #1 and #10 are nearest to the food court and bus stop.
They are the preferred buildings and cost about $12 extra per night.
The Calypso pool at ASMU has Donald Duck.

The Fantasia Buildings are the preferred buildings.
The All Star Movie Fantasia pool has Mickey.
It is a great place to stay .
Preschoolers love it.
It is like being in the middle of a Disney Movie Fantasyland.
All Star Movies has pop up fountains now also.
The buses are wonderful.

Bus rides are quite short from the ALL Stars according to PassPorter.com

MK 20 min---- 20 min-----25 min------10 min---20 min(mono)
Epcot 10 min-- 15 min-----20 min------10 min---15 min
MGM 10 min----12 min-----15 min------15 min---20min

DTD 15 min----20 min------20 min-----15 min---35 min

It only takes 10 minutes to get to Epcot,MGM and AK from All Stars.
MK is 20 min away. That's the same amount of time it takes on the monorail from the Contemporary.

A WORD ABOUT BUS SHARING:

It is usually just our stop and maybe one more on the way to the parks. On the way back sometimes its all 3 but often Sports and Music share and Movies has it's own bus back.

I guess some people who stay at POP see all 3 All Star names on the return sign of our bus stop when they head to the POP bus stop and think All Stars also has 3 stops on the way to the park.
(Even when we stop at another AS resort to load up it has not taken more than 5 minutes and we are on our way!)

The All Star resorts have 1960 rooms each.
Pop has 2,880rooms.
That means more people in the pools,food court and in line waiting for the bus at POP.
When phase 2 of POP is built it will be 2 bus stops at POP and the 2 POPs will have the same # of rooms as the 3 All Stars.

Also All Star is closer to the main road to get to parks and thats why bus rides are shorter from there than from POP.


I have visited WDW more than a dozen times with the 1st time in Oct. 1971. It was brand new. I've stayed at FW, Disney Inn, a few the of Hotels on hotel Blvd., CBR and the towers at the Contemporary. I got to see the MK from my balcony at the Contemporary and I'm happy I got to experience it once. I just prefer the All Star Resorts.

Where else can one find Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse at the pool?

We love All Star Movies because of the theming. We have two small children who love it too. If you want to get away from lots of kids, you might like Music better. I just love seeing the huge Dalamations and Toy Story characters at ASMo.

My DH and I stayed at All-Star Music last year, and it was pretty quiet. I think we stayed in the Broadway building. We liked the theming & atmosphere there. That's the only value resort we've stayed at. I would choose Music over Movies mainly because of the buses. They stop at Sports first, then Music, then Movies. By the time they get to Movies, the buses are pretty packed & you might have to wait until the next one. Also, the pools are neat - a guitar and a piano.

I just returned from Allstar Music on Tuesday. We really enjoyed it, it was quiet. The only time we shared a bus with one of the other Allstars was being picked up from a park. We always had our on bus being picked up from the resort and ever stopped at another resort. On the way back from the parks we would stop at Sports first then Music. I would stay at Music again.

I always travel adults-only and have stayed at all the values. That said, ASMu is definitely my All Star of choice. It seems kids like ASMo best, followed by ASSp.

When we were at ASMo last week, we were in the Mighty Ducks section which is VERY close to ASMu. Spent our time at that food court and used those busses as they were less crowded.

Best section at ASMu (w/out pref.) is Jazz, followed closely by Broadway.

I would also pick Music if I was going without children. We have stayed at both and Music was much less hectic.

All star music, calypso building has a carribean feel and a theme pool views(not in all rooms) imo the best choice for anyone with no kids.

We have stayed at both and the like Music better. Is there a reason you guys do not want to go back to Pop? That is our 1st chioce for value resorts!

I have stayed at all AS resorts, POP was great because of the buses but we also loved MUSIC and MOVIE. I think MOVIE is more Dis themed but they are all great! Or do what I do, stay at one this time and try the next one when you come back!

There is no reason we wouldn't stay at the POP again, we loved it. I just want to stay at a different resort, and since the Poly is WAY out of our price range, we decided on another Value resort. For as little time as we spent in the room, it just makes more sense to do Value. My husband has stayed at all the All Star resorts, so he is now introducing me to them! It looks like from what everyone has said, Music is going to be the winner!

Just got back tuesday.We were taking a quick trip down to finalize our wedding plans for next year. We stayed at all star movies(never again). We've stayed at music before and loved it, thats why we chose to stay at a value for this quick trip down. (we go every year and try to stay somewhere different everytime if we can agree on it). It just wasn't up to the quality I've come to expect from disney. Our bathroom door was off one of its hinges, There were small ripps in the sheets, and the door on the entertainment center/draw unit wouldn't stay shut. And thats just to name a few of the problems we had. I'm not trying to be negitive. We love disney, we're going to get married on property next year. It just wasnt up to expectations this time. However music was great when we stayed there. If I were staying at a vaule again that would be my choice. It also tends to be less crowed. And where movies is the last stop, the bus can be very full by the time it gets there.
