All Star Music FAQ thread and tips

My family and I will be staying here in May and was wondering how often do you get into your room early before check-in?

It all depends on how busy it is. It is difficult to predict. My experience is that we usually do get our room before 3pm......but you can't count on anything.

We just got a PIN for 30% off room only in December! We're considering booking ASMu. It'll be me, DH, & DD who will be 1 year old by then! Any tips for staying with a little one? What building would be best: quiet but still pretty close to the buses? Ship diapers & baby food or go with a grocery service?

That's a great PIN...I would love to get that one.

We usually book a preferred room. All the preferred rooms are in Calypso which is the closest building to the food court and the bus stop. I request a non poolside room and so far we have been placed on the third floor at the back of the building. It's very quiet because the only other people up there are your neighbours....maybe 6 other families. If people are being loud out on the corridor then you will hear them when you are in your room but I find in general that early morning/late night people are tired and you don't hear much. Plus, you only hear them when they are passing right at your door.

If you are not going to have one of the dining plans then it might be to your advantage to have a grocery service bring your diapers. You can also order snacks/drinks and light breakfast items to make it more worth while and also save money.

We have 2 rooms booked for 5-28-6-7. I know that ASMu has a lot of the family suites, and I thought I had heard that they are in the preferred buildings. So where would that leave the standard rooms?

Thanks:)

Unfortunately, no preferred rooms are available with the pin. :sad1: The 3rd floor would be great. Any other building suggestions?
The next closest building is Jazz....you can request it but nothing is guaranteed.

The suites are in both Calypso and Jazz. There are also single rooms in both buildings. All the other buildings are single rooms. If booking a single room in the preferred category they will put you in Calypso....it is the only preferred building.

I understand the requests are just that and not guaranteed but if I request connecting rooms what buildings am I likely to be put in?

Probably anything but Calypso or Jazz. I think they used most if not all the connecting rooms in those buildings to make the suites.

The last room I had in Calypso was a connector. Most likely there are only a few in Calypso and Jazz but there are many in all the other buildings.

If you are booking 2 rooms the cost is not that much more to book a suite...if that fits your needs. The extra cost will get you a kitchenette and puts you in either Calypso or Jazz. Basically, the extra cost is the same as booking a preferred room and paying for a fridge.

I have 55 more days until my first stay at ASMusic! :cool1: I'm so excited!

I do have a question though about king beds...Which building are they located in? I can't find the answer! Thanks! :thumbsup2

I could only find the building layout for ASMobut ASMu would be similiar:
http://www.************/maps/wdw/resorts/resort_asmu.pdf#page=03

Of the 10 buildings only 4 have king beds and half of those half are handicap.

There are 64 rooms on each of the 2 floors and of those only 4 have king beds.

So of the 1,920 rooms only 48 have king beds and only 24 of those are not handicap.

Ah, ASMu was the first Disney hotel we stayed in....
This brings back memories :) :goodvibes

we always stay at POP, this will be our first time at ASMu since it had the annual rate we wanted, we are going April 17, and more info on the refrigerators?

Not much to understand, mostly....
refrigerators are available for an additional rate per night in standard rooms, and they are already in the room and the price is included with the price of the room when you book a family suite.

The free refrigerators should be in all the Value resort rooms by the end of April. I think they're ahead of schedule so I wouldn't be surprised if you have one in your room.

Is that right? Oops, guess I need to double check my facts before posting, I am a little behind the current times, lol

This is a question for anyone who has stayed in a family suite lately..I have been reading lately that some of the resorts are switching to the coffee pod units and I am wondering if anyone knows if the all star music has the regular coffee pots they always have had or have they switched to the pods?
