All Star Music FAQ thread and tips

Okay... so I checked into ASMu today at about 10 am this morning and I was very happy to find my room was ready.

I am in Broadway Bldg 8, second floor. It's basically what I expected. It's nice and clean. Nothing extremely fancy, but comfortable and almost perfect for what I want.

My two complaints:

The layout of the buildings is a little awkward. The back buildings are a pretty far distance for food/drinks/and buses.Because of the location of my room, I have found it easier to walk through the Jazz building to get to my room.

I have a refillable mug from the dining plan. However, the cafeteria is so far from my room that I don't think I'll be using it. After a full day in the park, it's easier to just buy a soda on the way back to my room than trudge back, get the mug, go BACK to the cafeteria to save $2. There really needs to be a second small snack shop in the back of the complex.

And my second complaint, which is a biggie for me. I sit here typing this on my laptop.. My laptop is ON THE BED and I have a chair between the two beds... why? Because the bright individual who designed the rooms decided to put the internet hook up between the two beds through the nightstand. There is no excuse for having the internet hook up on the opposite side of the wall with the table. If I had known this, I would have brought my wireless router.

The beds are comfy and I have a privacy curtain. I guess they have been installed in all the rooms.. I looked in a Jazz room and they had a privacy curtain, too.

That's interesting. We had a privacy curtain in Jazz a few years ago, but at that time people were saying that the other sections did not have a privacy curtain. Glad to hear they are in more rooms!

Enjoy your stay!!

I read in another thread (here on the Dis I believe) that they aren't really fridges but called beverage coolers and not as cold as a fridge so milk and meats wouldn't keep well in it. They were saying that it is more like on the cruise ships.

Well, I guess we'll see... someone will stay there before we go and will report back!

We are booked for 2 rooms 5-28-6-7 with FD. We were originally booked at ASSp, but with 2 little girls this will be much better for them I think. We have stayed at ASMo many years ago and loved it. However I honestly don't really remember a lot, except that we loved it, had our own vehicle and never used the buses.

So my question is, since we are in a standard room how far of a walk is it if we are given rooms in the country fair? It looks on the map to be a very long walk. We were at the POP in January and our bldg was a standard, but a very short walk.

Thanks:)

The maps are very deceiving....just like at POP the walk from the back to the main building is pretty short. I would guess that from Country Fair to the bus stop would be about 5 minutes. All the buildings are right up against each other they don't have the great spaces that the maps lead you to believe.

If you check in and they give you a room in CF....you can ask for something closer. You may or may not get it but you are free to ask.

We just got back from staying at the AS Music, and we were in the CF building 6. I would say it was a 7-8 min walk with the kids to the main building.

I didn't ask at check in, but I did notice on our last night that we had internet access! It was WIFI! It wasn't very fast and in and out, but if they just started the service (it didn't come up in my connections any other night) that may be why. Either way it looks like they have free WIFI!

The person you quoted was there 2 1/2 weeks ago so I don't think they are still there. On the ASMovies thread they posted that they were just now being installed. I'm sure they will be at ASmu soon.

This is great news! I heard recently that all the values now had free WiFi - but it is nice to hear it confirmed!

Now, they just need to get moving on those refrigerators before we go in two weeks!

It was just announced that there is now WiFi at all resorts and everywhere in WDW plus in all areas like pool and bus areas.

I haven't been on this thread in a while - is WDW now providing free refrigerators in rooms at the values? :)

They are beverage coolers....which means they are only meant to chill drinks. They are not as cold as a fridge and won't keep perishables or medication cold enough. Also, they have no freezer compartment.

Thanks for the info - we usually only need it to chill the water bottles, so this will be great for us. :goodvibes

My family and I will be staying here in May and was wondering how often do you get into your room early before check-in?
